Week 12 small sensor theme.. don't know if this is the same fellow as the one I posted a few weeks ago, but probably is.... Used DxO 10 to process and used the HDR preset, and then toned it down a bit...not a fan of super extreme HDR but I liked this...

Week 14

Went to the state park to go spelunking and do the bird thing. no broken ankles or bones soo woohoo!
This is my first HDR shot from the Pentax K-3. I am very happy with these results, I did all the tricks and tips that were given to me here from my hdr thread and it really does make a difference editing each photo before merging together! This is the result of that. Thank you guys for all the help as I learn this stuff!

Week 14 - Went on a long hike through the Tolowa Dunes State Park yesterday, a quick image of Lake Earl (to document I was there!) and found a newly bloomed Cow Lily (I think)

Today - Easter Sunday was unique, we had almost an inch of hail! This is very unusual for Crescent City.

Here is mine with an alternate version in the description. I was able to find an unopened flower in the dappled light on the floor of the woods. They were just beginning to bloom, so there were few fully open flowers and the only ones I could find were in full shade. It was also breezy which despite how low these grow made handheld difficult. And the background was messy - natural, but messy. so I ended up putting a texture overlay on these - it seemed to draw them together as a pair which I liked and also actually brought out details in the darkness of the background (which I originally thought to obscure even more).

Something completely different this week. I am climbing the learning curve with my new Canon 70D. Decided to try my imaging with my iPhone this week.

One of the amazing things about Del Norte County is the very long Dungeness Crab season. It opens early in December and runs until July. We have access to wonderful crab almost year round! Here are some images from my crab feast today.

Week 15

I am trying out to learn the macro end of my zoom lens of the 35-135.. I am not that impressed with it and to me, this is not macro but another snapshot of a flower. But this was on macro mode when I took it. I think I need extention tubes with it or something, starting to learn macro thing :-)

Not what I was expecting but a fun shot and to be able to see the flowers grow and bloom

Figured out how to use my the 28mm macro lens instead of using it for landscapes LOL. Filled 2 SD cards and it Took me a while but it was the aperture that I was having issues with. Had to use a high aperture normal than what I am used too. Used a flashlight for the light.

I am getting a new Raynox RADCR 150 from B&H and I should have it next week sometimes, I am really looking forward to start moving objects like ants and other creepy crawly things So excited

I'm late for my weekly posting.... Chalk it up to a 9 day in a row work-fest with 4 nights of all night on call. So happy to be able to work on my photos again! Still getting used to the new 70D.

This week we have some sunset shots of Pebble Beach and Castle Rock. I should use these weekly posts to create a travel guide for Crescent City! ;-)
