Week 9 ... I attended a lecture on the confiscation by Germany of Europe's bells during WW II, followed by a tour of the Campanile and a presentation by the University Carillonist; the 63 bell (5-1/2 octave) carillon is one of the finest in the country. I was around in the late 1970s when they added a set of large bells -- the largest weighs over 5 tons -- when a crane hoisted them almost 300 feet up and maneuvered them between those pillars at the top of the tower ... even with the removal of a couple of stones on each side there was still less than one inch of clearance. Of course, I didn't have a digital camera then ... :-(

February was a loss for my photo-a-week plans with the URI. I did get to take a few shots at the end of the month.
These are a couple from the French Quarter.

Some balconies that are still decorated for the Mardi Gras season

A bicycle taxi stopping to listen to a singing group (visitors) performing in the Quarter.

. .

The bracelet laid out on a white cardboard is about as much like the bracelet on my wrist as a dead butterfly pinned to white cardboard is like a live one in the garden.

Shooting these is so frustrating, it's tempting to give up. It might be the main reason why I 'lost interest' in photography.

I decided to try to trick my mind. I quit thinking about it. Just picked up one camera after another & started shooting here & there. Thoroughly boring shots so far, but maybe I'll get an idea one of these days.

Oh. I found my tripod. But there's a small piece that screws onto the camera, which then clips onto the tripd, which I can't find. I do remember putting it in a safe place. So, it's only a matter of time until I find it.

I'm about four weeks behind, so I'll cheat and give you four from the Apostle Islands ice caves. We went up last weekend and hiked on the lake. Really great experience!

I think it cost about $15 to replace the one I lost ...

March - week 1
We're on vacation and having a wonderful time. After a picnic, I took a short hike up to this hole in the rock. The light was just right to get this wonderful glow from the back side so I asked a teenager to pose there - she was delighted to do that and equally happy to have the jpg afterwards. Not processing much along the way, but I knew she wanted it for her FB page, so I did it for her - now you get it for my week 1 entry.

Del Norte County - Crescent City CA B Street Pier and Battery Point Lighthouse

This is my favorite image, but it needs better processing than Lightroom.

Here it is unedited except for conversion from RAW to JPEG in Lightroom

Rain and more rain here this week. So will have to post a couple from previous weeks.

Tried the Orton Effect on this one, I thought it was an improvement over the original.

Shooting indoors this week.
Didn't enter this challenge shot because it seemed too dark on my iPad but not too dark on the PC.
