Incredibly dumb, if you ask me, and certainly illegal, but oh, my goodness...

Yikes! Man has a death wish, if you ask me...

Sadly, I do believe that someday he might become a hood ornament or sorts.

I actually shoot a lot of longboarding here in Vt. It's not illegal at all and in some areas the police come and watch. Believe it or not he is pretty safe as he is sliding to brake a lot and on the pads of his gloves are "pucks". These allow him to put his hands down without turning them into hamburger. The group I shoot out on clinics to teach people about safety and are always willing to help people learn how to skate. Please don't underestimate these riders, it looks scary as hell but they are safe and watching and shooting it is awesome. I would link some shots I've taken but I'm on a mobile so if somebody else would like they are in my profile.

Perhaps I misread it, but if one looks Here fit would seem that it is an illegal act.

Yikes. It was impressive to watch, but I cringe to think of all the various bloody and painful ways one could die by doing that.

I think at the least he should have a motorcycle jacket and very sturdy pads on, but I guess that wouldn't make for such a macho promotional video to convince all the impressionable kids out there that they should try the same thing.

Maybe it's a population reduction plot?

After reading it, I'm not so sure... it would have to shown that the mode of operation was "negligent."

I have seen many stretches of road closed to vehicle traffic for just this sort of thing here in the Berkshires on 'event' days. Rails, boards, road skis, road sleds, you name it.

Great video. A friend of mine that I grew up surfing with started doing downhill skateboarding just like this about 15 yrs ago. He was a nut to begin with but had some mad skills in the water and on land.

Maybe, but when one considers the "Duty of care" aspect of the legislation as stated at article(2) "The standard for a conviction for negligent operation in violation of this subsection shall be ordinary negligence, examining whether the person breached a duty to exercise ordinary care"

I would think that the activities shown in the video, particularly those parts where the skateboarders veers into the oncoming lane would readily constitute a violation to the duty of care.

If someone really wants to do something like this, best the contact the authorities and find a venue where they can do this and not risk the well being of others.

I have no problems with daredevil activities, as long as the only person paying the ultimate price is that who is engaged in the activity.

It's only illegal if you get caught and they can prove it was you.

There is a big hill near my house , I used to exercise riding my bike to the top, then I loved the ride downhill, some areas I could be going 80kmh, about 20yrs ago my front tire blew and I still have some scars

I still do it every once in a while but now I'm going at granny speeds

he falls once on the video and slides a long way over his belly, he is wearing a tshirt, I guess the road burn wasn't pleasant

Thanks for sharing the video

It looks as though he knows how to fall to minimze the damage. But yeah, betting he gets some serious road rash from time to time. That run (where he fell) was a different one than previously shown, as the wheels on the board are orange - earlier they were white. Not something I'm going to try anytime soon!

Not all that difficult when some schmuck is part of the grill of a big rig... mind you, one might tend to cut the poor schmo some slack I guess.

Part of the road was Tioga pass descending out of Yosemite towards Hwy 395. A scary ride in a car, let alone with a milk crate strapped to your feet.

At that point, do you think he'd care one way or the other about the legality of his actions?

Actually, I really don't care about the boarder, but I am concerned about the physical and emotional damage he could possibly cause to someone else. We seem to forget that the driver of an oncoming vehicle would have to live with pain and guilt for a lifetime, wondering if there was anything that could have been done to prevent this event.

That my friend is what I do care about.

I actually THOUGHT I recognized the view, but the road sure as heck's in better shape thab the last time *I* drove it, which would be maybe 30 years ago :-)

I'd just want my car fixed…I'm not going to cry about it.

I remember it making me a little bit nervous as a kid(30-35 yrs ago), trundling down it in a 71 Datsun pickup with suspect brakes. Or our 1976 Chevy Caprice land yacht.

Part of the video looks like it was shot on Hwy 108 over Sonora pass(more curves than Tioga, plus narrower and just as steep). And some Bodie stuff in there at the beginning if I'm not mistaken. Death awaits a mistake.

While I can respect the skill and nerve it takes to do something like that, I agree with the others about how reckless it is. Would he even care if while shooting around one of those corners a car coming up the other way panics and serves, going over one of those steep sides in the video, killing a husband, wife and 3 kids or an elderly couple or a salesman just wanting to get home to his family have a lot of miles on the road? I wonder if he even considers things like that? I would hope that if something like that happens that that they not only throw him in jail and throw away the key but everyone filming and the company that uses the film to make more sells off of it, sending others, less talented than this guy is. There are a lot of fearless and stupid kids out there. We see them here in Portland all the time riding their boards and bikes down off the hills through intersections (often against the light) over the street car rails and all of the pot holes that Portland is famous for. I've had a few come close to me and all I can say, where is the illegal alien driving the poorly maintained garbage truck when you need one.
