Great news! Glad to hear. Rest up, heal up, and both of you take it day by day. Does Bear have a camera with him? Hospital boredom + pain meds can make for some interesting photographs. :-)

Sending healing thoughts to both of you .. hope jokes are still wanted :)

St Peter and Lucifer were at the gates admiring the clouds when the subject got onto photography. They couldn’t agree whether Heaven or Hell had the best photographers so they decided to arrange a photo contest.

St Peter rubbed his hands with glee and Lucifer demanded to know why he was looking so smug. “Well,” said St Peter, “in Heaven we have all the best photographers”

Lucifer slowly raised his head, grinned and replied “Ah, but we have all the judges…”

I had one I thought was funnier but I didn't want Bear to hurt himself laughing (grin)

I've spent the day with Robert and on the way out I've stopped at the wonderful patient family center to use their computers. I am surrounded by a wonderful array of Yousuf Karsh photographs donated several years ago in honor of a Brigham and Women's doctor. Just spectacular.

Some landmark events! About an hour ago, Robert walked around a bit then sat in a chair (both firsts since the surgery). He said to tell you that he will be in touch tomorrow. Jeff Nelson, VAWendy's husband is at BU for a conference and kindly walked to the hospital this afternoon to spend some time with us. NickyB came by a little while ago and is still with Robert. Robert enjoyed/is enjoying both visits.

I have some pics but we forgot to bring a card reader to copy them to the tablet, so you'll have to wait. The hospital staff all say that after a bit of a rough start he's doing really well.

I hope you get well soon. My get well gift will be to do my best not to get disqualified again! I was going to say my get well gift will be first second or third place, but I didn't want you to rip open your stitches laughing! Lol. Get well soon!

The old man was a familiar sight to the neighbors. Every day as he returned to his room at the boardinghouse he would pause on the porch, close his eyes and clasp his hands, and repeat three times "Please God, let me win the lottery."

As the months passed his entreaties became both more elaborate and more desperate, "Please, Dear God, I've been a good and humble man all my life ... please let me win the lottery."

Finally, one cloudless day, he was startled from his prayer by a sudden clap of thunder followed by a voice booming from the heavens;

"Alright already, I hear you. But look, you've got to help me out ... at least buy a ticket!"

A visitor to Oxford University remarked to one of the gardeners on the incredible desnity and thickness of the lawns, and inquired as to what special techniqes they used to achieve such magnificent and luxuriant growth.

"Oh, no special technique," replied the gardener, "just seed it, roll it, water it, and mow it."

"That's all?" asked the puzzled visitor.

"That's it," said the gardener, "just roll it, water it, and mow it ... oh, and keep doing that for 600 years."
