Two DPCers, me and scarbrd, spend all last week capturing thousands of images in Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Parks with no topical challenges on DPC to enter our wildlife and land/waterscape shots. Then to to get home and see a Parks challenge announced Tuesday. FML.

well, it's a good thing you took a few pictures with the date/time on your camera set forward a week, isn't it?

...

you guys don't do that, 'just in case'? oh....neither do i.... ;p

Just for clarification, what do Americans think when they hear the noun Park? I suspect that this maybe one of those words/phrases that mean different things to people from different countries. In Britain, I suspect most people would think of either municipal parks or the great London Parks. We do have National Parks - areas of outstanding natural beauty, but wouldn't be what most people would consider to illustrate the word Park. Would be useful to know what the bulk of the voters are expecting!

That's the same down here, We have a Park dedicated for dogs, so they can run free and interact with other dogs

I think you're right. Most people would think of city type parks.

But, I think national parks would fit the challenge nicely as well without too much noise from the DNMC crowd.

That's why challenges aren't announced ahead of time.

Municipal parks, dog parks, state parks, national parks, ballparks (baseball stadiums)

I'd guess that the interpretation will be quite broad from the American point of view. At least, it will be from this 'mericun.

I realize they are called carparks elsewhere (and will vote it appropriately), but here in the US of A, that's a 'parking lot', so others may not. : - )

The interpretation should be quite broad considering the description is N/A. :D

Don't forget park is also a geology term, hence Park City is a city in a park.

As a photographer, I shoot what I love because I love to shoot. I've apparently lived my life one day to one month ahead of a thousand opportunities to cash in on contests. The thing is, the photos and memories will always be there. Some moron would wind up pissing you off with a 1 or 2, so don't lose sleep over it. :)

For what it's worth, I was thinking about garages. LOL

people do that???

doubtful.
I thought about it when I was on vacation after this same thing happened to me but I thought it would be cheating (it would but exif data wouldn't be questioned unnecessarily)....im sure I am not the only one to have that thought though

My luck, if I tried that would be I'd forget to change it back, win my first ribbon the following challenge and get DQ'd for date.

"Just in case" this gives anyone ideas, remember that the penalty for falsifying EXIF deliberately (which I'd consider this to be) is a permanent site ban ... and if you do hope to get away with it it's also recommended that you not blow your cover by publishing your itinerary ahead of time ... ;-)

I suggested this challenge when I was in NYC, wanted to enter a photo of Central Park, but unfortunately we left the day after this challenge was announced, DOH don't you hate that!!!

Still we are in an excellent place once again for me to get a great pic!

I think everyone knows what a park is, botanical gardens are included as well, sporting parks also.

the key word is deliberately.

there is no rule against randomly changing the date, especially for minimum challenges when you are checking out features of your camera.
