How about a challenge where things are under your feet or enjoying the little things??

**********************

Underfoot

We're usually focused on the view, but the ground holds treasures too. Show us what you find when you look down.

FIRST!

I got up at about 1:30AM to let the dog out, saw this challenge posted, and knew exactly what I was going to shoot, and by 6:56AM, I had a shot.

Although, I reserve the right to swap out my entry in the next week.

As an owner of 4 dogs, im pretty sure you dont want me to be taking pictures of what I normally find underfoot....

I am curious about the mention of "ground" in the challenge. Do you think the photo must include visible ground? (Or that some voters will interpret the challenge to mean this.)

Voters will interpret the challenge in manifold ways. The real question is how YOU interpret it. To whatever extent you can free yourself from the mindset "what will the voters want?" and embrace the mindset "what does this challenge mean to ME?", to that extent you will prosper and grow :-)

This should be the challenge description for every challenge.

I'm confused. Is this about shooting from ground level (with the camera pointed in any direction), or is everyone expecting photos that were taken with the camera pointing down?
05/30/2014 07:50:14 PM · #21
My take on this was anything that can be found on the ground...be it animals, nature, people...It seems very generalistic and I hope I'm not the only one that took this kind of focus.

UNDER your FEET ????????????

Sure, if your photo convinces me that this is where he/she was at the time, then yes.

A normal photo of a normal person.... underfoot? I don't think so, sunshine :-)

"We're usually focused on the view, but the ground holds treasures too. Show us what you find when you look down."

How can there possibly be any confusion about this? It's about stopping to smell the roses. It's about switching away from the big-picture-drama mindset and taking heed of the often beautiful world that flows by right at your feet. It's about looking down instead of outwards. Just go DO it, and reward the experience. Don't worry about what WE (the voters) will think, just show us what you found when you wandered around looking down :-)

It never says show us what you see under your feet when you look down...it's just general and says "when you look down". Technically anything on the ground could be underfoot, it never specifies that whatever you take a photo of has to have a picture of a foot above it.

I get it. Skyscrapers, too, start at the ground.
However, if someone takes a landscape photo from - or a portrait ON - the top of a skyscraper, do you honestly think we should reward them for being ever so clever because they decided to totally avoid the challenge topic?

Sorry, but I will be looking for things to do with the GROUND....whether that is straight down, or from on your belly shooting along sideways, so to speak.
ETA:... on the ground, or some other sane, plausible option that fits the topic of "underfoot".
