OK, I think that I must be missing something...
When I click on one of the top navigation drop downs (eg Challenges) I see a very brief "appearance" of the drop down list, but I can't select it.
Automatically I'm guided to the page with challenges to enter, to vote etc....
I can't select eg the challenge archives like when browsing on a desktop or laptop.
Longer push on top/tab results in a "copy/define" option.
Any idea what could solve this problem?
I'm just starting out with iPad so please be patient with me
Thanks in advance
- Nadine

It's the browser (Safari) used by iPad and iPhone etc. You should try to install another browser. On my iPhone I use the free Puffin browser. That browser gives you the opportunity to use a 'mouse pad' and you can move the mouse pointer to the menu and open the submenu. I don't know whether the Puffin browser is available for the iPad as well, you should check on that.

Neither Chrome or Dolphin browser allow access to the menus, either,

Do yourself a favour, don't use it all the time, use it only for traveling, it can't do a lot of things desktops do, and it's rather frustrating!

I just checked my iPad and Puffin works well on that one. Once installed you see in the top-right corner 3 dots. when clicked a side screen opens and in the bottom you see 'Mouse'. Clicking that one opens a Trackpad and you can use the mouse pointer to open the submenus.

Depends on what you want to do with it. As for DPC, I use my iPad more and more, the images are brilliant, so I use the iPad now as my standard voting machine.

Yes I have to admit the images look sharper, quite deceiving I think.

I don't like how the image ID doesn't show in the URL.

Splendid browser Kees :) thank you for the tip. Works like a dream.

Under normal cicumstances I use my desktop at home or laptop at work for visiting DPC. I only use my Macbook for dropping images here.
I purchased the ipad for surfing during my work/home travels. At this moment I also use it at home for as long as I'm not completely mobile again.
Bu, what I've noticed for now is indeed the image quality... I honestly prefer to vote viewing the entrees on this device then on a normal screen.

If you tap the URL bar, it'll show the image ID.

Using the iPad is quirky, such as not having the drop down menus. However, I've been able to navigate the site without the drop down menus. I've found another "button" somewhere instead of the "button" on the drop down menu. Just saying...
As for the challenge archives; tap the URL bar and the full URL will appear. Replace the word "index" with "archive" toward the end of the URL and hit go on the key board.

I guess I'm a tad too lazy to apply all these workarounds Leo *blush*
The puffin-browser handles the issue perfectly :)

Does anyone know of a way to get this to work on android phones? I have the same issue -- can't use the menus.

As far as I know Puffin is fully compatible with Android systems as well, so try to install and see what happens.

I've been working with this browser now all afternoon and I just LOVE it. No more Safari for me...

It works just fine on Android tablets, at least. I'm using it now. It's available in the Google Play store. There's a free version, and a 2.99 version. The Free version only runs Java during daylight hours. I just paid the 2.99, worth it. It has a little touchpad it generates and you use it like a mouse, point n tap.

Download the free one to your phone and try it.

just FYI, the alternative is simply to remember the urls and enter them manually...

For example,

My Home > Profile = //www.dpchallenge.com/profile.php or, username.dpchallenge.com (for me this would be cory.dpchallenge.com)

Or there could be a mobile version or App developed for the site......

Also you can go to this thread.

Mark it as watched thread on a PC / Mac then you can access the page on your iOS browser. That is what I do

iPad and DPC don't play nice, though I'll have to try Puffin just for DPC and give it a whirl.

Give it a try Matthew. It's a simple, no fuzz browser, but it works like a charm. No need for more from this side.

I saw this thread yesterday and a lightbulb went off.

I just put together a helper application that essentially wraps the standard apple browser with an alternative menu for DPC. It works on the iPhone and iPad.

Here are screen shots from an iPad:

It doesn't alter or intercept anything on the site. It's essentially a set of bookmarks to the internal menu items that can't be accessed via safari.
I haven't submitted it for approval yet, but wanted to know if there would be interest in it.

You've got nothing to loose Sam. Some will prefer installing another browser, but others could cling on their browser and prefer a solution like yours.
