There are a lot of sites* which provide a limited** amount of free (or really cheap) storage space, where you can make a shared folder.

**Usually way more than would be be needed for a project like this unless you're making a documentary movie. :-)

*Try Hightail.com or Box.com

ETA: It is also possible for one person to establish an account for the project, and have everyone upload their projects there, like we have been doing in the "Lost the Penguin" thread

I feel compelled to try it, too! What is the deadline - if there is such?

Tim & Lev - Go for it. A great way to get back into DPC. Deadline of this months challenge is, well, end of the month, Feb, really. Check out Don's first post. This thread is for discussing, trying things out etc. Anything goes really - there is no restrictions on what an 'essay' is, just a forum to discuss and work on a 'photo essay'.

I'm in for it as well. I've been meaning to do an essay. It's a good time to do one. I'll post it somewhere and link it to here.

Yea, the SoFoBoMo type of thing was what i was after. That was a great way to get on with a book and view it. I'll look into various possibilities for that.

I think Issuu is quite good for displaying pdfs.

There is a photo of Clive on Facebook, involving a horse of sorts, that is, unto itself, a photo essay. It is frightening. Fascinating, but just a wee bit creepy... :)

That's one of Matilda's photos of me. She's taken to using the little 10 year old Ricoh GR i got recently. I have it set on high contrast black and white and she tends to get a bit Austin Powers- telling me to sit on her rocking horse and smile, jump on her bed, play her toy guitar etc. they would make a good essay but, as Debs has pointed out, they are some of the most disturbing, creepy and frightening photos i've ever seen. It's like they were taken by a three year old David Lynch.

My Lord, you guys aren't kidding. That's an awesomely depraved, disturbing piece of work, right down to the expression on your face. It's like, eventually they will come for you, you know? There's no holding it off. You really ought to post that picture here so Don can see it.

Very nice beard, though...

Gak! It's not the most flattering set of photos of me to be honest! I'm Facebook friends with Don so he could probably seek it out if need be. Perhaps i will do them for this months photo- essay. We'll see. It depends if i'm in the mood for some zen-buddist-type ego destroying.

I'll be in. Thank you.

Brilliant. That's the one i was looking for. I do remember it from the SoFoBoMo days. Cheers

I know what I want to try this time...not sure if I can figure out how to do it fast enough to make the deadline. I might need to ask for some free advice!

bump... only 28 days this month.

Bump. Also CPR. Are we still breathing here?
I'm finished my essay.
Anyone else there? Test … 1 … 2?
02/17/2014 11:45:09 AM · #44
You're finished? I am still picking photos and laying them out. So far it is all in my head, but I hope to submit something.

Nudge nudge. Know what I mean?

Late start from me on this one. I didn't really have an idea of what i wanted to do until yesterday. I thought to do something a bit more abstract, as opposed to the more documentary approach last month, so i popped down to the nearby seaside town to do some long exposure seascapes but nothing really clicked. The sea was quite far out and pretty bland - and it was grey and wet. Anyway, i turned inland and took a few shots of some interesting shapes and the idea of an essay of the promenade came to me. Basically, it's a quite abstract look at that small stretch of promenade. Still quite wet and storm battered but my idea is exclude the sea. Really it's a way of getting back at the sea because it annoyed me by being a bit rubbish yesterday. I hope it feels left out.

So, i've got a few initial shots - i've gone for a consistent square crop and chunky white borders (because i'm all about chunky white borders at the moment). These may or may not make the final edit - it depends on what others i take over the next ten days or so.

Lovely set Clive. Thanks for posting it. I needed the reminder. I might be a little short on time but i am going to try and find something for this months photo essay challenge.

Clive, I'm curious to see what direction you take this. The chunky white border reminds me of old polaroid images. A then vs. now comparison comes to mind with this format.
