a day in the life of the world's busiest airport

Thanks Skip. That was a very well done presentation and certainly gives the average person a sense of the daily happenings at a major airport.

I see more and more web site designs like this, Including Yahoo's new design, where the image is full frame, and text is overlayed, across the bottom and often both sides, so the only thing you can see clearly is often the least interesting part of the image. So the image is in the way of the text, and the text ruins the image.

Needless to say I lasted only a few slides in before it got too frustrating. The picture in the FAA room where all the action takes place in the bottom fifth and the rest of the frame is ceiling and florecescent lights, and there was just enough text to cover over every person in the photographer's shot leaving a picture of a ceiling. GHHHHHAAAAA! Fortunately the text describes the action it has obliterated.

They're designed that way for mobile/tablet viewing. In school that's what they're teaching us is "the future." I don't like it either.

+1 I spent about 5 min trying to find the correct window aspect ratio that doesn't clip either the sides or the top and bottom. At one point it actually started to vertically stretch the image instead of scaling it. I find these are even worse on phone/tablets because you have no control over the windows aspect ratio.

if this were a simply photo gallery, i'd agree with the complaints, but this is a multi-media journalistic presentation. this is much, much more than a simple photo essay, with the photos being only part of the story; if you bailed because of the text, you really missed out. 7 photographers, 17 reporters, and an absolute ton of stories and behind-the-scenes vignettes - for me, too much to take in at one sitting.

Very nice site, I enjoyed the stories. On my 24-inch monitor (16:9 aspect ratio), everything looks great and works, I think, the way it was intended.
