I finally got my new site going. There are still bits missing (a few blank pages here and there), but it's getting there.

I'd love to know what you guys think. :-)

Pixels & Bandwidth

Edit: can't spell

Its wonderful Mandy! I love the look.....just one critique is that it looks a bit like a few other sites I have seen. It needs a bit more punch?? Just my opinion,

Thanks parrothead, that's a fair comment. We designed it based on a standard type of design to make it easier for me to update and expand in the future. Also, I'm not sure that familiarity is such a problem - some people are happier when they feel comfortable with a design. You've given me something to think about though :)

We're thinking about replacing the main front page image with a subtle Flash animation in the future.

The long footer at the bottom is a bit distracting. The " Pixels and Bandwidth is the online portfolio of Mandy Hall" really should be somewhere near the top as opposed to the bottom imho.
The main menu buttons on the left seem rather pixelated and fuzzy. Seems like you guys are a bit worried about big images but don't cheapen out on the buttons.
Your logo looks a *lot* like this logo.
Gallery Button seems like it should really be called "Portfolio".
And finally, pages load pretty slow and I'm on a T3 connection. It may be due to the hits from DPC, but I'd check with your host.

Edit: The site is nice by the way. I like the feel. Very professional.

I think its a great looking site, slick and pro. However, the one thing I don't like is the menu .. I don't like the text and how it looks kinda blurred or skewed somehow .. and then the gray text going into the gray gradient .. Now I'm not a fan of gradients, that may be a good reason I dont like the mneu, but it just seems out of place where the rest of the desing is so slick

I'm also have slow loading issues and on cable =/ Odd ..

Thanks Jesus, all good stuff. I hadn't realised about the logo! I'm familiar with the product but I hadn't put the two together :)

The gallery suggestions makes sense. I called it that because it's possible that in the future it won't just be my work. I could change it anyway until then anyway though.

I'll check on the host - it's free for me so I don't want to make too many waves :-), but it shouldn't be slow. It's late afternoon here, which is a fairly busy time anyway so it might be down to that.

D'oh! This slow site thing is no good. I might see if we can reboot the server.

Edit: Turns out the server was having a problem. What bad timing!
