It seems that a person can't discipline a child when they throw a temper tantrum.
This child is not learning any good lessons here. I know my butt would have been whipped

| Nothing happened in that story. A divorce lawyer for the wife made a ridiculous claim about the husband in order to help his client. That's all. There's nothing in that story about any rulings that were made. |

The lack of a ruling doesn't indicate a lack of problems with our culture. |

the fact remains that because this father did not take his kid to Mc D'S he got in trouble.

There's a problem with our culture because one lawyer tried to find an advantage for his client, however absurd? And this is somehow different than the 1950's? |

Yes, this is the harbinger of doom for our society. There has been a spurious allegation in a nasty divorce, that somehow was worked up into a new story by the Post and Fox News.
The homeless, children killing each other over cell phones and sneakers, a 14 year old killing his teacher, the destruction of the middle class: all those are irrelevant. But a dad makes a good parenting decision, and his soon to be ex uses it as an allegation in their divorce case and now we have a story worth reporting as a sign of end times. |

Just a bit of the pie. Nothing more than a small little piece, but - really, what lawyer thinks this is an OK strategy? It's symptomatic of much deeper issues. |

Such is the nature of an adversarial legal system. Any good lawyer gathers what ever dirt they can, and flings it at the other side. The judge decides what sticks. This is the way our courts have always been and will remain. If you see this as a symptom of a change in our society, then you are showing a predilection to see signs of change where none exist. Enjoying what passes for news reporting these in these days of "infotainmnet" and a "see it live" 24 hour news cycle is a sure way to be convinced that our world is in crisis and about to end. The news never has time to look at the real deeper changes that are going on, but this sort of faux outrage is exactly the kind of non-story they promote for ratings, and if you have a dark view, to keep the real way our world is changing out of view.
