My trusty Nikon Coolpix 995 bit the dust today. I was shooting photos of a waterfall while standing on a steep slope of moss covered rocks. I had the camera wrist strap on, and was steadying the camera on some huge rocks. I started slipping down the slope and the camera, guided by the wrist strap, slammed into a boulder very hard.
Immediately afterwards the camera showed "System Error" on the LCD when I put it in manual or automatic mode. I can still review the photos on the camera....
Anybody have experience getting a Nikon Coolpix repaired? I'm thinking that it may not be worth getting fixed and I should start looking for a new camera. Any thoughts concerning repair vs buying another camera would be appreciated....
Thanks,
Alan

I'm not sure about getting it fixed, but if you do decide to replace it, can I have the broken one? It would fit great on a sculpture I am making.

That's what I was afraid of hearing. I'm thinking that maybe this would be a good time to consider moving up to the Nikon D70. How do you like your D70 Clara? |

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your best friend.....you will always have the memories.....a new D70 should help with the grieving process.....Sincerest regards

Just chiming in to say I love my D70 to pieces. Also I still use my old Coolpix 4300 on occasion because I can tuck it in my pocket. Or to take pictures of my D70. :) |
