I'm thinking about explaining every single one of my votes on a challenge. I'm waiting for a challenge with only about 50 entries. Anyone else want to join my Quixotic quest?

Simply put in a comment for every photo you vote on. Include your vote and why you gave it that vote. Should be an interesting exercise for both commentor and photographer. And it might ruffle some feathers. I think it would have most effect if we all did it on the same challenge, but I'm open to other suggestions.

-----

here is a list of participants who said they were interested in this thread (just posting on the thread didn't do it). being on this list doesn't commit you to anything. it just means I'll notify you when I pick a challenge. Please feel free to offer up a challenge if you think it's looking good. I want to wait until the last day to make sure it doesn't get too big.

I like the idea. Of course the feathers remind me that I might chicken out. But then again it might be good for getting goats. A little anima/animation might be just the thing.

(commentor? I thought it was commenter).

My feathers don't have ruffles.
And furthermore, my ruffles don't have feathers!

Yeah... Worked fricken fantastic last time I did that...

Sure wtf. You wanna ruffle some feathers? Just name the challenge, I'll do the whole thing with ya.

I could be wrong, but with the TPL going it might be a long wait before another challenge with less than 50 comes up. For the most part, I think it would be a great boost if many participated - I found it sad that *at most* only 78 votes were cast for the Word II challenge when all the entries there deserved more attention than that. That challenge had 52 entries. I was not in that one but am in a current challenge with less than 40 calories per serving where I think the vote count And number of comments will be low. Time, I know, takes it toll on many as that I now am in the same boat with less of it to parcel out.

Giving this a bump to float to the top and hopefully get you more participants.

I'll do it!

Hmmm. Intriguing.

I'll do it. (hopefully we'll remember this thread and see it when the challenge comes through. Or maybe someone can PM the participants so we don't forget)

Nice idea, but time consuming. I'll give it a try, 8 comments a day should be possible.

Not a bad idea I commented on an entire challenge not long ago it was fun.
BUT I'm not real happy about the "tell them what you voted" part.
I have NEVER told anyone what vote I have given them and I don't think I want to start.

Why? It's fun! ;)

I try to comment the whole challenge when I do actually vote/comment. Sorta feel it makes up for my other deficiencies when it comes to voting/etc.

Okay, I'll start collecting names on the first post and then when a good smallish challenge comes through, we'll do it. I don't want to do it on DNMC challenge, too atypical.

to nygold: commenting on every photo is great, but this is a different experiment... a look at someone's voting strategy for an entire challenge.

I'll do it - sounds good to me and also great learning for others, who like me, are new(ish) to DPC

I'll use a rubric.
