Oh, lordy, I wish folks would stop suggesting Minimal challenges.
My sensor dust is driving me crazy - not a difficult task, but stillll.
And no, i don't know how to get rid of that big spot in the upper right corner!

Love architecture but one question please.. because it is minimal does this mean we can not use our HDR Bracketing?

This is when I love to practice my manual HDR shots..

That's right - one shot from one exposure, just as it comes out of the camera. No RAW conversion (must shoot jpeg). No crop, no rotation, no colour rebalancing. Just a (whole image) sharpen (don't use a sharpening tool that has any form of slider or selective capability) and a resize.

That's it.

Makes for a quick editing workflow!

Bracketing includes multiple captures and that's not allowed in Minimal Editing :-(

You CAN rotate 90, 180, or 270 degrees. But no straightening allowed.

A single JPEG, which can only be rotated, resized, desaturated and default sharpened (you don't have to do them all, or any). No HDR (in camera or out). No cropping. No sensor dust removal. No nuthin'.

Also to add, you can sharpen more than once but you can only resize once.

oooo this sucks then, it is what it is and I am up for the challenge then..
I think all my architectures I have taken in HDR (manually)..this will be the first time I have taken without HDR LOL,
time to step up the game

Are we allowed to use the different settings in the camera as far as the picture effects go, such as toy, watercolor, Ill since they are one shot?

Ok, since I use lightroom that has a slider on it, soooo how am I supposed to sharpen then? OR is this one that I will have to bring through photoshop and just use the one click? Can you really tell if there has been a slider used? This confuses me and thanks for all the help guys as I learn, I really appreciate it

I don't believe so. Those are typically effects added by the camera AFTER the photo is captured. You can put filters in front of the lens though.

Just take a look at the 'You May' and 'You May Not' stipulations in the rulesets. As long as you don't do anything that is on the 'may not' list or anything that's not on the 'may' list, you should be okay.

Best practice is to simultaneously shoot both RAW and jpg (setting for that), so you have the entry covered but also have a nice RAW file to do with what you want.

If you have presets on your camera that process the jpg at the time of shooting with a certain look, I believe that is legal. For example, I can adjust contrast, sharpness, saturation, etc., ahead of time, so that when the camera processes the jpg it will look how I want (in theory). I don't know about "watercolor" or other settings like that, but if you get one jpg with that look (and you cannot remove or switch looks to toy, for example) you should be fine. One thing for certain is that you cannot make any changes, even in camera, afterward.

Since it is JPG and we are not allowed to edit outside of the camera, I would like to use one of those settings, The camera is a point and shoot Sony Cybershot x200V
It has preset of those things under the menu of picture effects, then I take the picture. Under each of those settings, I can set the white balance..

The only presetting of this I can not do is the PNTG because that is only in HDR mode painting.

(added after editing)

I just don't want to get a third DQ LOL

Your best bet is to send SC a ticket and ask if it's legal.
