G'day,

Anyone from retail know if the Nikon D70 will be dropping in price anytime soon with the new Canon 20D coming out? Or will there be cashbacks on this model?

I'm looking at buying one soon, and am wondering whether I should wait a couple of weeks if this is probable. I'm in Australia, though still let me know if this may happen in the USA, too!

Thanks,

Ben

I don't think I would count on it too much. Kind of like care dealers. When they bring out the new line of models they will drop prices on the older ones. don' think Nikon will drop because of Canon, but watch for some cheaper 10D's out there for sale.

Good point Tracy.

I might as well just grab one now and start enjoying it! Can always upgrade to any future Nikon models down the track...

Loving mine so far!! Kicks ass. Lots heavier than my 5700 was (picked it up and felt like a toy). You will injoy it immensely. Have fun!!

If it drops it will be in the next 3 weeks. I don't anticipate a drop because Canon has nothing that competes directly in that space (11-1300) that comes with a lens.

It depends on what Nikon announces end of month.

i don't think the d70 price is going to drop at all.... if you look at the digital slr's, they continue to retail at the same price years after they're released. the nikon d100 is still 1499 for a body only at Ritz. yeah you can find them cheaper online and used market as well, but retail price won't drop on it until that specific camera's replacement comes out. so even if nikon releases a d100 replacement, you won't see a price drop in the d70. that's just my opinion tho ;)
