I had an interesting idea come to mind when I was shooting two days ago. A roshambo challenge where instead of assigning the same specific subject to everyone (like rain, food, fireworks, etc) the challenge allows you to pick any of the three relationships in the roshambo game (i.e. paper covering rock, rock beating scissors, or scissors cutting paper). It would be best as an Advanced editing challenge so that the three choices could be interpreted figuratively. Sound intriguing to anyone else?

That is not what Roshambo means in contemporary usage.

Although I'd be up for this too.

Now this would be an interesting challenge!
Not so sure I'd have a willing model, however. Lol

I have to say, when i saw the subject for this challenge suggestion, i cringed. I crossed my legs, i sat more upright in the chair, and i clicked wondering what was in store for me. I've never heard Rock-Paper-Scissors (or -Lizard-Spock as Denielle mentioned) called Roshambo before.
I'm perfectly fine with a game of Roshambo, i just always go first if i play.

South Park Rochambeau(video, nsfw)

rock paper scissors I, rock paper scissors II - these were pretty literal of course... good luck getting dpc to wax figurative when you're invoking physical objects ;-)

Why do I get the feeling that beer was somehow involved in this "contemporization" ...?

I thought Roshambo was about a Vietnam War veteran accused of murder in a small town. We see the event three times from the point of view of three different characters, each story contradicting the one before.

Nice conflation (Rashomon and Rambo) ... :-)

The goal was to greatly reduce the likelihood of a tie by moderately increasing the complexity of the game. Invented by Sam Kass, a software engineer (not the White House chef)

Interestingly enough (and in keeping with some of this thread's tangents), Sam Kass, the White House Chef, created a recipe for a dish called Roshambo, that has meatballs ("rock"), tortillas ("paper") and is eaten with chopsticks ("scissors"). It's Obama's second favorite meal.

ROFL. Yeah, I really had/have no idea what his favorite foods are. Like the Prez himself, I just make shit up as I go along and enjoy stirring the pot. :P

Hah. Interestingly, Obama is on record as saying his favorite veggie is broccoli. Do we believe that? Or is it just a dig at Bush Junior?

He said a lot of things that haven't been true. Like that he was going to close Gitmo. In his defense, he's a politician and if a politician's mouth is moving, they're lying.

... the Congress has continuously said he couldn't.

If you want to know about politicians and their lies check out today's episode of Bill Moyers' show ...

I caught a tiny bit of this in the car this afternoon.
I just looked at the full 49+ minutes. (Thank you, Paul for the link)
Yep, we're in tough shape.
It's one big Monopoly game.

Edited to add: It occurs to me that this thread started out, more or less, about folks kicking people in the testicles.
And that it had ranged far by the time it got to the Washington shenanigans. Still, after reading through and thinking again about this thread, perhaps the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, after all.

Well this got derailed pretty quickly due to my incorrect terminology. In my defense, WIkipedia does support Ro Sham Bo being used in the place of rock paper scissors.
