I must say that this week was a very good week. I have given more 10's, 9's and 8's than ever before.

I also hang out at the DP Review to learn about the latest gizmo's and I have been sorely dissapointed in the quality of photography people have been submitting there to highlight the new digital DSLR's coming out from Canon and Nikon.

I thought that if they came here and submitted that stuff with $4,000 dollar camera gear (camera body, lens and acessories) most of the folks here could really out perform them with their sub $1,000 point and shoots.

Just wanted to say I think this site does encourage people to really push their skills up beyond the equipment.

Whoever coined the term, "It's not the tools, it's the carpenter" sure nailed it on the head!

It's like having a Ferrari parked in the garage, but the driver doesn't know how to drive a stick shift... renders it useless! The same applies to these new DSLRs. It has taken me a while to understand how to use my camera well and i'm still learning... can't imagine the learning curve for one of those new DSLRs

My camera cost about £100 (not sure in dollars) and it seems fine to me, although I don't think I've really pushed it to its limits yet, because the quality of my photography skills aren't exactly great. Still, I'm improving, and thats all I can do!

My brother gave me his Canon EOS1 "he was tired of it" what a looser, any way its a 35mm but Cannon made a digital based frmo the same body, I play with it from time to time, and I tell you what If people want to carry around that big ass camera, then more power to em.. I still prefer my dinky sony,.. also lens for that thing cost about as much as a car,.. well at least my car.

I miss having control of Aperature, Shutter speed and focus... Can't wait till I can get all that in a digital for anything approaching a decent price.

Ronin, do you still have the multiple "propoganda" stickers all over your Sony?

My camera has all sorts of controls - now I just have to learn how to use them, and remember were they are. My Sony DSC P71 is much easier.

I love the control my Olympus E-10 gives me--

But my Canon PowerShot S200 fits in my pocket much better.

But realize that a good photographer who produces a good photograph with an inexpensive camera can probably produce a better one with an expensive camera.
