Try using Google Public DNS.

And just as a test, bypass DNS entirely --

Try this DPC link.

I know this has not worked for sure...tried several times from various browsers...worked beautifully on my phone although????

As to the DNS...I know my husband did something with it when he gets home I'll have him read the link and see if that was what he did...and we will try again...

Any other suggestions???

We have tried resetting/powering down computers/routers/modems. So far nothing works.... 😳😡

You tried the direct IP address link, and it didn't work from your computer?

If that's the case, then it's not a DNS problem.

Well, for those who are interested:

Here's what I know. It's not a DNS problem, and it's not specific to DPChallenge.com ..

From what I can discern, it seems like this is something upstream that's affecting some service providers and is (mostly?) limited to sites on Sargasso Networks.

I installed a copy of HotSpotShield on Janine's system, and she's able to access DPC now. Crappy(ish) solution, since I really don't like to pile on TSR applications, but it functions, and the VPN connection did allow her to bypass the issue.

Since this is clearly out of Langdon's hands, and is way beyond any of us mere user's ability to change, for now installing a VPN solution like the one above will simply have to serve as the unofficial solution.

Heres the other part that is weird as well Cory, I can access DPC fine but I am unable to ping or even create a tracrt to dpchallenge.com

Its got to be a Sargasso network issue. He needs to swap providers with the number of issues we have been seeing this year.

Thank you so much Cory!!! I can finally see the entries, comment and vote...amazing!!! I just hope the issue is resolved very, very soon...

ROFL. Hardly, I just know how to get around basically any technological roadblock. It's a significant part of my day-to-day job description.

Darn nice of you to say so though. :D

Wouldn't that be the business of creating roadblocks? Sorry, my skills fall squarely into the 'demolition' category - I try to stay away from the 'construction' categories. ;)

You could demolish them. That would work. I'm not picky. ;)

Since you can at least sound like you know what you're talking about, any chance of reporting your findings directly to Sargasso? If it's not specific to DPC, I see no reason you, as an "interested party" shouldn't be able to report the problem, even if you might have less financial incentive than the site owners.

problem is I can't get to it...sargasso.com comes up with the same error message as DPChallenge and "I'm totally inept when it comes to computers...I can follow directions but I don't have a clue what the lingo is...although my vocabulary is growing...

That's why I was suggesting that Cory report the problem, preferably in condescending detail ... :-)

I suppose that's a good idea. I suggested Janine get up a lynch mob.

Tell ya what, Janine, get together a group of the affected, and I'll draft up a form letter for you guys to drop on Sargasso's admin's skull.

PM me once you guys are together and I'll reply with a nice little letter you can send off. Five or six e-mails from five or six people is way more concerning to an admin. :D Especially if they're end users who sound like they know what they're talking about, or have been well consulted on the matter. ..

As of yesterday, I have been having the same problem as Janine. At the moment I am writing from a different computer across town that uses a different company for their internet access, an incredibly slow AT&T DSL connection. At my house I have a much faster Charter Communications broadband connection. I was able to get on yesterday morning. Later in the afternoon, I could access the site only with my kindle, but I couldn't sign in. Later that evening I fired up the desktop and could not get on DPC with that, and the kindle would not load the page either anymore. DPC is the only page I can't access. I've tried different browsers, it's not my firewalls or network connections etc., etc. I'm only having probs with DPC. I'll try entering the isp directly when I get back home. Just wanted to add another voice to Janine's. And changing to a different isp is not an option...AT&T blows.Hopefully it will remedy itself in a day or two!

In a bad way I'm glad I'm not alone!!! I've been talking to Waddy all week he has Century Link up to yesterday he could get on...now he can't ... I've posted on FB to see if any of my friends can and what ISP's they have...I know that earlier this week I tried the website Sargasso.net they are on the same server as DPC - I could not get on it. Maybe a couple if you can ck that out? Also send in a ticket to SC (Langdon) that there is still a problem...haven't heard from him at all...

You are definitely not alone...I figured the more voices there are, the more something might get done to fix this. I tried all the stuff suggested here like entering the direct IP, talked to my ISP a length and the problem was not on my end...Charter couldn't even access the site. I see Cory has figured out what the problem might be. Is there some reason Langdon can't contact Sargasso? I know you mentioned it was out of his hands? And Cory, thanks for helping out. At least those of us who are having trouble most likely know it's not something on our end at least. The internet connection I'm using now at my folks house is so slow...like click-the-bookmark-then-go-walk-the-dog-then-maybe-the website-will-be-up-when-you-get-back slow. I really don't want to add any stuff to my computer just so i can access DPC...perhaps this is my sign. I'll check back tomorrow morning to see what's what.

ETA:...here's my facebook page It's easier to reach me through there...just send a friend request. And Janine and Cory, I'll definitely join a letter posse if you get one together.

In any case, I just fired off an e-mail to one of their network / system admins.

We'll see what they have to say.

Here is a question - starting this morning I noticed that the number of votes came to a crashing halt since last night on the Mysterious Challenge. As of 6 p.m. I was stuck at 26 votes (others stated in the score thread they were stuck on x amount of votes too).

I can't say if this log in problem is affecting Landscape in Portrait and/or Not My Style but I am beginning to suspect this has become a problem on these challenges as well. And if it is affecting the voting public then it will negatively impact Landscape in Portrait challenge first as that rolls over in less than 2 days.

If so, then has Langdon been notified that this is impacting the challenges?

I suggest you copy and paste the details (or more if available) into an Administrative Ticket, which is the same method we have of contacting him about issues -- he may as well get it "unfiltered" ... I'll also note your issue/post in the SC discussion thread.

I'm here and will work on this in the am...a bit to much wine to be coherent (right)....but I'll add some voice to the e-mails...and just FYI here is the phone number for the "parent company" (my words here) for sargasso (server for DPC) I'm planning on calling them tomorrow (probably won't get an answer because it's Sunday...but I'll start the campaign...lol)

Challenging Technology - GoDaddy - Sargasso.net... 757-222-0315

Go for it my fellow DPC soldiers!!!

Seriously I don't think I will be able to contact them until Monday but you just never know....

So noted and sent an Administrative ticket with the Subject Line reading: People cannot log in/ voting *seems* to have come to a standstill or slow crawl. I then followed it up with a more detailed description of what is happening quoting some of the posts here in this thread as well as the link to this thread.

Thanks for posting this issue in the SC discussion thread Paul.....just an fyi, I have had 8 views on Mysterious and only 1 vote since 6 p.m. It is now stuck on vote 27. I think I will go and ask on the other Score thread if they have noticed a standstill in votes coming in and point them to this thread...but if they are having problems logging in they might not be able to report it:-(
