Hello everyone, this is my first try at posting into the challenge. I am kind of lacking any self confidence so I would like to post the entry here first just to make sure it is not a piece of garbage. I don't know if I should post the image here or e mail the link to any volunteers. Please let me know.

Thanks in advance
Joaquin Barbara

Welcome! And good for your for jumping right in. One thing to know, the entries are supposed to be anonymous until voting is over, so you aren't supposed to show them in the forums first. But after the challenge is over, if you don't get enough feedback, you're more than welcome to post for comments. :)

OK, I guess I'll take my chances and submit it. Thanks.

anonymous to a point. you can ask for thoughts before submitting it but you need to do it in private, i.e. not in the public forum. if you want, you can PM me and i'll have a look.

Some of our most talented photographers submit entries on a regular basis that score poorly (not me - I just score poorly a lot).

How else are you going to learn if you don't try? If your pictures are really bad, there are lots of small things you can learn that will help them be better.

Remember, on dpc, the vote is on the image, not the photographer. It should not be tied to your self-worth. In fact, it is often true that someone enters a great picture, but because most others don't see how it fits the challenge it scores poorly. For example, in a black and white challenge, someone entered a great color picture with a bright red background of an african-american with white hair.

Overall, dpc is a learning experience, not a concert performance. You are not expected to be perfect here (your images are, however - don't expect a great score on a so-so image). Being real, being a learner, and being supportive of others is what counts here.

Best of luck on your first entry. I am looking forward to seeing your work.

good luck on your entry. Just rememb....if you don't score well on your 1st don't give up. Learn from your mistakes and enter another challenge. You will improve over time and have fun doing it
