Vote 1 for Strikeslip to have his account deleted.
Vote 2 for GeneralE to resign his position in Site Council.

I have decided as a result of this thread, to honour the wishes of the DPC majority, though I doubt GeneralE would be willing to give up his position of power over you and I.

Your posts are often funny and creative. Other times they are merely annoying, rude, inappropriate, off-topic, vulgar, self-serving and narcissistic, and do not (IMO) serve to advance the aims of the site in "helping each other become better photographers." If you can't tell which posts are which we can easily make it so you won't be able to post anything at all until you can ...

The threat of "violence" being against a spam-bot.

I guess one week, as per photo challenges is a reasonable time to give this.

Spam-bots are people too! Just like Monsanto, Dow Chemical, BP and Shell Oil!

No, not baiting. It's just that I will not change my personality to suit DPC's "direction" as defined by the SC. I don't wish to be annoying to most users, and so will take my ball and leave you in peace if that's the outcome here. Being bullied by the big guys who have the power of banishment/thread-locking/etc. is not my idea of fun. So they are the winners in this case. It's not an even playing field.
Cheers!

That's the Universal Answer.

i think DPC is big enough for both of you.

I'd hate to see DPC lose it sense of humor.

Ah, so this is really your 'goodbye' thread then?
06/26/2013 10:25:48 AM · #10
If you really wanted a referendum on whether "DPC appreciates Slippy's sense of humor and wants hom to hang around", you could have accomplished that without calling the General out on the carpet and making it a "him or me" proposition. The man's only doing his job, as defined by the TOC, and if sometimes he seems a little extreme to you, well you might step back and realize that often enough YOU seem a little extreme to others in the community as well.

So yeah, it's "baiting": IMO anyway.

Slippy, don't go voluntarily.

Slippy -- You are often funny. You are often inappropriate. Generally, you are both. I am hoping you do not leave.

GeneralE -- I do appreciate that you do the generally thankless job of monitoring the forums. Slippy probably does need a tug on his leash from time to time, but, in this particular case, getting upset with him for threatening a spambot seems a bit silly to me.

FWIW, I want Strikeslip to be a part of dpc.

But, doesn't it come down to a willingness to abide by the TOS that we all have agreed to?
Any user, including me, who is unable or unwilling to adjust their behavior to conform to the TOS, probably should just admit it and move on. It really doesn't add anything to the site to continually fight (or disregard and thus provoke a fight) the terms of service.

I've never bought the "I am who I am and I won't change for anyone." line. To me, that is just an arrogant "I'm much better than you are." attitude cloaked in sound good words. If a person isn't willing to change at all to accommodate those around them, then they are demanding that everyone around them change continually to accommodate them. Not quite so noble from that point of view, eh?

Isn't it reasonable that a user who agrees to the site's TOS should expect all other users to be held to the same TOS?

I think there are far too many expert challenges recently.

Using your logic, it's simply mob rule. What if the mob is wrong?
