I'm on a slow connection (and doing other things to boot) so I haven't browsed your collection. I do like the angle of this shot .. and the sharpness around the head and the front legs. The one thing I would wish for would be more light on the front eye, perhaps even the neck (rather than silhouette).

I like this shot.
Looks like something off the Sci-Fi Channel :)

Looks like it was on the window or door?

Very cool! Love the detail.

He was on a glass sliding door for that shot.

Thank you Aero, Holden, and Terry.

BTW Terry, the original shot has no shadow at all. I just like that dark looks i got with this filter. Just happened to be a look i liked. Might try something lighter and colorful later tho, so i'll take you'r advice there.

Like the shots but wish I had the colors on that one you posted here since I looked at the other shots and that mantis' color look mighty fine!

Nice work

Just for kicks this is what it looks like with color(minor touch ups, and no Half-Tone Filter+duo tone). Still like the Duotone the best i think. Although i do like the colors produced once i clean it up a bit.

Good job, I really like this picture (the b & w), and I think it is the best of your mantis shots by far. It looks like it's supposed to be a portrait of this mantis, and it seems like the mantis might have some kind of personality. Its a pretty cool concept and well done, way to go.

I think the color version is wonderful. The duotone looses a lot of tonal subtleties I see on the mantis in the photo!

I think it loses a certain umph that the Duotone adds.

Your B&W conversion is crushing some shadow detail that I think needs to be there. Otherwise, I'm in agreement that the B&W version is superior.

Very nice vaguilo. I like yours in color. I think the fact that the background and foreground clash a bit more than mine does is was makes it work so much better.
