| I have to take my Canon 50D into the repair shop to have the Release Button replaced, and was thinking about having maintenance done on my lenses. Both lenses are over 10 years old. The shop quoted me $179 to clean, lube, and adjust the 70-200mm 4.0 L and $299 to do the same for the 100-400 4.5-5.6 L. There is nothing specifically wrong with the lenses, but was thinking it might be a good thing to do. Any thoughts or suggestions? |

| Sound like a lot to spend fixing something which has "nothing wrong" ... |

| if you cant see the dust on your images, I don't see any reason to clean. |

It's impressive to me, about what can happen with a lense, and want it does to an image.

| It has worked it's way down to the bottom of their article links. I don't know if it is their first article, or it is about to scroll off. The link has changed a couple of times over the years. Hopefully it stays, it is one of my favorites. |

Heh. Yeah, I think you'll probably want to ask for a full lube job at those prices.
As said by the others - it works fine - don't screw with it - at best you get no change - at worst, it's broken/worse/misadjusted when you get it back. |
