I'd forgotten about this sign I'd take a picture of a couple of years ago in England...

And people say we're strict here in Utah... ;-)

I'm guessing we'll not see that sign posted in Amsterdam?

Here are a couple of signs that I shot over the weekend:

Highway 194
Sign Says...
Sunday Services
Spruce Pine VFD

Well, that sign would be prohibiting drinking on the street, in public. It England it's normal for people to stand on the sidewalk outside the pub with a pint.

Here is a funny sign I shot a couple years back on a visit to Wisconsin (a state in the U.S.).

So...you're implying that your entry is better than Highway 194...such comforting news...I met a guy online who has a whole collection of photos of signs painted on buildings like SP-VFD.

Here's a link to my "cheesy" sign outtakes from last week. I think I should have entered the last one...

No.. hwy 194 would have done a lot better than the one i submitted prolly.. lol

Hey John, if you had submitted hwy 194, I woulda given you a point or two just for finding a relatively straight spot! :-)

This area does not have roads for the weak of heart, or stomach. I think when they were laying the roads out in this area, they didn't want to move extra rocks and stuff, so they just went around them.

That was taken at the intersection where 194 intersects with 221... it was the only straight section of that road... lol

Some more signs, all taken last week. I finaly chose the one that looks the most coherent with the rest of my pics, but some of these outtakes would probably have scored better.

I particularly like "nissan.jpg" - great shadows!

When I was visiting Birmingham, Alabama a few years ago I remarked on the extreme manner in which the roads snaked around the countryside. A local explained that the road contracts were long ago granted to friends of elected officials, and their meandering nature was due directly to the amount of work they could squeeze out of a job. There were no real topographical reasons for the corners.

I imagine that there were a few other corrupt officials working in other parts of the country...

If I had been anywhere close to my university I would've taken a picture of the sign on the road outside one of the campus clubs. It warns for drunk students and looks like a widelife warning side, except it has a guy with a bottle on it.

Reindeer crossing, PiteƄ, Sweden. German tourists like stealing these and our moose crossing signs. ;)

My girlfriend took the picture a long time ago.
