Well I must say I am disappointed a bit...out all my entries so far this year only 1 of them just made a 6.0, the rest were all in the lower 5 range.
It's true that none of my entries were really what you would call spectacular though. But then with this challenge I really thought things would be different when I saw the end result of my image when I finished editing it. And I have been busy photographing, sorting out which one to use and editing for almost 2 entire days and nights with this photo. I thought...wow! this one really turned out quite nice and I felt like this one would at last be one of my images that make the front page again. Big surprise and disappointment to wake up this morning and see that after 10 votes I am once again in the low 5's, 5.4 to be precise.
I still started a thread a while back wondering what it could be that so far this year I have not been able to get a 6 except once, all in the low 5's. If it was due to me having lost my touch or if the voters had become harsher and more unforgiving or maybe a bit of both. And it's not only regarding my own images as I see this happening with the images of others too. I have seen some exceptional images of others score well below what I felt they should have scored. Well with the results so far of this Automotive detail challenge I really feel totally confused. That said I really still like my image and I think it's one of my personal best efforts ever and a step up in many respects but perhaps I'm a bit delusional. I am certainly a bit disillusioned :)
Ps: It's not just my own images I am talking about. Just been looking at the results of some of the latest challenges and I see some, to my mind, exceptional images that ended with a low score in the 5.0 to 5.7 range. Images that I would have thought should have scored anywhere from 6.5 to 7.0. What's also interesting is that when you look at the score breakdown you notice that many voters gave lots of 6's 7's and quite a number of 8's with a few 9's and maybe a 10 or two. At the same time their score is dragged down because the majority of voters gave 5's with a large number of 4's and quite a lot of 3's and 2's and maybe a one or two 1's
That just goes to show how diverse everyone's viewpoint here is and how tastes differ. What one voter considers excellent another voter considers very average or below average.
Or maybe it's just that are too many strategic voters.

Well considering my earlier post in this thread where I had 5.4 after 10 votes I now really don't understand it anymore although I'm a lot happier.
The only explanation I have is that it looks like a lot of voters must have revised their earlier votes.
