I've never seen as robin this red - and I've seen a lot of robins in my day. I'm assuming it's a male? The ones I've seen usually have the pinkish-brownish breast. I though it may be a Flame Robin but as far as I know there are none in North America.

Great Horned Owl, Bubo Virginianus. This is the female, she has been sitting on the nest well over a month now, we are hoping to see some young owls here soon. My guess is they have hatched because she is much more active in the nest now and sits up a lot higher in the nest.

Here is a better shot of the male that has been seen in the tree next to the nest, it was taken last month. The male has not been seen around in the last three weeks so not sure where he has been hiding.

11 Masked Lapwing

12 Australian Magpie

I have included sound files with these images. I find that hearing a bird call helps to get an idea of the bird character.

Big April snowstorm coming to Colorado by Tuesday morning. Blizzard with 18" of wet snow. I'll have to get out and photograph some additional birds on Monday morning.... because it's going to be very wintry on Tuesday and Wednesday.
