Hello gang,

Long time no talk....HOWEVER...I know where to come when I need help.

I have the D700 and need a quick point to how to start my file names back at 001. I changed the DSCxxx to GKH but can't figure out how to reset the file numbers.

I know this is not a killer problem but will help me when I publish the photos for purchase !

I know you will come through before 11am central.

1....2....3....GO !

You can do it when you return home with software on the files you shoot. I don't know that there is a counter reset on the d700.

Likely can be done with batch processing but I'm probably a worse batch processor than I am a camera menu guy !

Keep in mind that my only clam to glory is a picture of a lizard's head and maybe a computer in a refrigerator !

Thanks....like I said...no big deal. In fact, if I can't figure it out on the camera, I'll likely not bother with it later.

I thought it was on the file naming section under shooting menu, but just checked my camera and I don't see it.

ETA: Just found it. Under Custom Setting Menu: Shooting/Display then file number sequence. You can reset it there.

At least that's where it is on the D800, but the menu settings are not much different to the D300 so I'm sure it's in the same place for the D700.
