Hi folks...

I've just come back to DPC for the first time in quite a while.

Just critiqued a couple of pics and the queue was only 7 images?

Is that normal these days, or are there some manicly active critiquers now? :-)

Cheers, Chris H.

If youre referring to the critique club, you can checkl the box but you never get a critique so people stop checking the box....but hey, welcome back! :)

Yeah, a lot of us got quite lazy with it, unfortunately, and it has discouraged people from checking it. I've been thinking of upping recognition of it and putting lots more time into critiquing but I just haven't mustered the steam yet. Glad to see somebody back after so long. You stopped participating right after I joined instead of lurking...

Ullo..

Yeah, I do remember a few years ago the queue was at times massive, and I only ever critiqued a few as I liked to do a decent job of it...

Quite interesting to see the level of editing now in challenges. Dust spots and minor cloning was it in '05 when I was a regular. :-)

Also little disappointing to see no non-member challenges up at the moment, and entry sizes seem to be down a bit on what I remember. But then change is the only constant I suppose, and good to see the site is still going strong.

Cheers, Chris H.

The lack of an open challenge is most likely due to a lag having developed for some reason for some challenges to post. There should be one.

Participation is indeed down, but there are still good entries, still good conversation in the forums, and still a very helpful community.

It (the queue) also depends upon which type of challenge has ended. I feel like FS and open challenges create more than weekly member challenges.

Hi-ho,

I got really busy in 2006-07. Since then I've changed jobs twice since then, our son was born, we bought a new house, started a business and sold it again...

My world is finally getting back to a bit of more sensible work-life balance, as it were, so looking forward to doing some photography just for relaxation again this year for the first time in a quite a while. I have been on and off active in our local photography club but more off than on.

I'll have a slash at some critiques over the next few days.. Be a good way to get back into it.

Cheers, Chris H.

I'd be willing to join the club if I can help ressurect the interest in it.

I think it goes in fits and starts. I've been quite active at times in the Critique Club over the years, but life gets in the way sometimes. My last critique was in September 2012, so not as long ago as I thought. I think people have bursts of enthusiasm and then for one reason or another the enthusiasm wanes.

G'day from this side of the ditch :) Nice to meet you. Looking forward to seeing some of your more recent stuff coming through the challenges... and ante up - 's only 25 bucks, remember then you get to go mad more times a week.

Well you inspired (shamed?) me into spending my luch break penning a critique. I had forgotten just how long it takes - a full half hour. I remember I did speed up a bit when I was critiquing more regularly, but I got a bit disheartened when I realised that a good proportion of the critiques were never even read.

And therein lies one of the reasons people stop doing it!

Contact us:

Select DCP Critique Club option Manic will handle the request most probably as he's the main SC for the CC
