Ok so got a fave and some other nice comments, but none of those who gave me the two's commented, would love to know why you thought my photo was worth a two.

I really loved this shot, it's not my fave, but at least it was fun!

I wasn't going to start this thread but I really feel I'm getting low balled ATM after my good start to the year, if you just hate my style tell me, it's ok!

Come on Anita, you've been here long enough...

Nothing is wrong with your shot. I like it (I did not vote on the challenge) but I would give it a 7 easily. Beautiful PP.

Also you did get a fav and and nice comments to include mariuca's

Oh yeah silly me, I forgot, but it's the two's I want to hear from! LOL!!

I didn't vote this challenge, but for me there is no story to see.the processing seems very heavy handed. In the b&w version i can't differentiate between the water and the grass.

Oh yeah, and why didn't you vote???

I gave it a 6 which is where I honestly thought it deserved.

Votes are very subjective and we don't all share the same preferences. You seem upset that you received a few low scores... others might not comprehend this image warranting scores of 9 or 10.

When one considers your overall score and placement in the challenge, I can't say that I would agree that you were "lowballed".

I am assuming since you posted asking for opinions that you actually wanted them? I'm just saying that it looks like a random snapshot taken by a parent while the kids play. There is nothing compelling in the scene, at least to me. Maybe it speaks others but just not for me.

Ok fine by me.

Remember it's the two voters that I want to hear from, I know it wasn't ribbon worthy, don't get me wrong I'm not that naive!

Sorry, not one of your 2 votes but this shot really connect with me (could be an Australian thing) and it got an 8 from me. There is so much to appreciate in this image that I feel many voters may have missed it. The more I look at it the more I find to like.

Thanks Phil, it must be an Aussie thing then, bc the votes went down when the other side woke up, lol!!!

Started with a 9, then was in the high 6's for a while, oh well you get that!!

What he said.
Whatever post processing you did hurt my eyes. There's an awesome glow to the entire image which I think looks ridiculous. It's like you discovered Glamour Glow for the first time and ramped it up to 11.

And yes, I'm one of your twos.

OH BTW I didn't just discover glam glow, I use it a lot, and oh yeah I might of overdone it, true, but glam glow is awesome there should be more of it, and speaking of it, we should have a glam glow challenge!! Anyone up for it??

I love the processing. Sounds like I need to discover glamour glow too - google here I come

Seeing this image for the first time, I can tell you I would have voted it less than 5 somewhere. The processing is too much leaving halos and a cartoony look. For H - the hats are an insignificant part of the image and for the overall story the image tells, Hats/H is a minimal part of that.

Just my opinion. Nice image - just not for an H challenge.

This also. Forgot to mention this the first time around. Compared to some of the other entries, I thought the connection to the challenge was weak.

Anita, I like you a great deal but sometimes you can be very frustrating.

You have been around here for quite a while now, have developed a style that you seem to be happy with, have a profile page littered with awards from some of DPC's heavyweights and have managed to adjust your style sufficiently (yet still be happy with it) to reap some ribbons and hm's. When, after a 'good run' of scores, you get something that doesn't resonate score-wise, you are clever enough to ask for feedback but then seem dreadfully upset when people give their honest opinion. You weren't (aren't being) 'lowballed'. You also got 1 x 10, 4 x 9 and 10 x 8's - are these 'highballed' votes? Sometimes we all just have to realise that we've made a swing and a miss. By the way, you managed to place in the top 26 24%. I wouldn't call that a bad effort, regardless of score.

In a very Aussie way I'd like to say (and please please take it in a very Aussie way) 'stop whinging'. Take a teaspoon of cement and harden up! :)

You want honest feedback, then deride the person giving it. Let me think where I've seen this before .....

You always have to put your two cents worth, you're such a trouble maker!!!

Didn't you see the smiley face. I heeded the advice, I got it ok, People don't like the glow, and the PP, and maybe it was DNMC, I understand, next time I PP a photo like that and it doesn't do well I only have myself to blame.

Edited for typo ;)

first of all, my vote to your shot was a 7.

why not an higher vote?

IMHO i find this shot really overprocessed, i do not like the glow effect, and i think that in this shot real colors (maybe slightly tenuous) would be more appropriate.
02/06/2013 09:01:47 AM · #24
fwiw (no I am not a 2) I found the shot oddly processed and nothing really of interest happening in the shot itself. And I do have to side with PamB a bit - Anita you have been here a fairly short time and done quite well, so what on earth are you getting your feathers ruffled so easily overÉ

Apparently Neat doesn't like honest feedback. At least I gathered that from the PM she just sent.

Maybe I got blinders on, but I don't see anything wrong with anything I've mentioned in this thread.
