I'm sorry if this question has been asked, but I wasn't able to find a recent thread on this -

Can you recommend an online provider that will send print my photos for me?

I've heard good things about Shutterfly, but is this the go to source? Any recommendations would be helpful.

All photos are really just for personal use (friends and family).

I take snapshots down to the local Target store. For my more serious prints, I use Mpix. I've been happy with their results.

The pricing between Shutterfly and mpix looks pretty similar. Any feedback on the quality?

Is there a certain size you typically get from them?

I have started getting my prints from Richmond Professional Lab. They are local to me, but with the ROES system you can order from anywhere. Best prices I have seen ( 0.18 4x6, 0.50 5x7, 1.00 8x10). I order using their icc profile for soft proofing and the images have come back with great color and quality.

I've used Mpix for years and they get great results.

But I'm switching to prodpi.

Just too dang good!

Richmond is not local for me and I use them, and love them. Their customer service is beyond great!

I always wonder about forum posters who register for the site to ask a question about a specific brand, then go away, never to be heard from again.

Regardless, no, on the whole, I don't think many people here use shutterfly. I print my own big prints. If I need something else, like cards or calendars, I use mpix. If I just want some 4x6's, I use my local Costco.

I get most of my prints at Costco, because I drive by there frequently, the prices are great (though not quite as good as an 8x10 for a buck!), the quality fine, most of the counter people know me by name, and they can fix a problem right then if there's a problem. Most online systems more than eat up any print savings in shipping; Costco seems to offer free standard (USPS) shipping for 4x6 prints.

Plus, you can order a backup/archival DVD for $3 (any number of photos up to capacity).

I used to order some specialty prints (metallic paper mostly) from the Kodak Gellery before they sold out to Shutterfly; I've since ordered a photobook from them when they had a really good promotion.

sometimes they get their question answered and don't need anything else ;-)
