Week 6 Black and White

Went out shooting for In the Style of Jagar Saturday - great excuse for a walk around our Old Market area and a late lunch with my husband in a favorite restaurant (vegetarian lavosh for me) on a clear but blustery winter day. Here are a couple of outtakes.

Couldn't post this for a while since all these entries were in challenges here or elsewhere.

Week 4
Portrait

This was for a faceless portrait challenge elsewhere. I liked the idea but maybe I left too much of my torso in the image.

Street

This was obviously for the high vantage point challenge. I followed her around for a while hoping she would finally notice me and look up. She did.

Week 5
Portrait

Just playing around with some fancier editing then I normally do.

The minute my wife saw this person on the subway, she knew I was going to take his photo somehow. I had to move all over the subway to get this close to the man.

I have a whole new vocabulary, a midline incision, & 27 staples (I got a shot w/my iPhone 2 seconds after the surgeon removed the bandage). I got home this afternoon. Soooo I'm behind on everything. The daily chores can wait. I'm gonna catch up on voting/commenting. It's a priority, esp since I fits in nicely w/my plan to spend as much time as possible in my lazyboy!

Week 5: Nott Memorial Lights

I went to a photography lecture here last week...just shot this while leaving with my little RX100 (actually, I had my SLR and Fisheye with me, but the RX100 trumped it!)

I haven't forgotten about this, just sidetracked for a bit. I'll add this shot as my week 3 image and get a couple more out here soon:

and I'll get some more commenting done too!

I hate to hit the thread and run, but I've had 4 days of the flu, and it's put me behind the 8 ball getting projects done for the end of season wrap ups we do. This is a shot from a game I covered tonight. 400MM Near court with a slight crop, turned B&W with a small vignette. I focused on the eye while she focused on making the shot. I had a yearbook kid intern with me tonight. She said, aren't you scared you won't get those kind of shots just right and then have nothing to turn it. I looked at her and said do you want images everyone can make, or do you want images everyone wants? She stopped, smiled and asked if she could try the big lens. You gotta love it when you get through to a kid at a young age.

Week 6 Malachite Sunbird

Hi to the people thinking they are seeing sensor dust in the lower left corner, it is actually our rather grubby garage wall! OOps I should have cloned it out.
Week 7 Grey crowned Crane
In the wild Very endangered not often that you will see Mom, Dad and Junior.

Down the hill, around the park from our last stop this detail is from a building on the corner of Haight and Buena Vista East Ave. Away from the famous "Haight-Ashbury" district by a few blocks, the building is next to one of the oldest parks in my City.
It was built in 1896 but I was unable to find the name of the architect. Now it is a four unit condo. A picture of the complete building is in the notes.
There are so many homes in my town that have been lovingly restored with brilliant colors and careful detailing. I'll likely show off lots more in this romp through "architectural oddities & embellishments."
But next week, I expect to visit the site of another of the H. C. Bauman buildings.

Ugh only saw this now. Sorry! Hope you are feeling better! The birds and I are all chirpin' for ya!

Oh thanks for your good wishes! tomorrow I get all the staples removed & I am looking forward to that! it's my first time for surgery. if I am lucky, it will be the last. the odd thing is, I don't have my photography mojo right now, which I don't like. maybe when my energy level returns to normal, my obsession with photography will return to normal also. Hoover, week 7

After almost 2 weeks of wintersport and family visits in Holland, I'm back. Have to do a lot of commenting, but most important, I can enjoy Hoover again and upload his pictures again.
