Week 1
Tentatively my theme is going to be trying new things...
The new thing in this image is making the moon look more "normal" by applying exposure corrections and saturation reduction selectively making the moon look b & w, while the overall scene was very blue. Probably fairly standard stuff, but kind of new for me :) |

I don't think it is ever to late to join a Side Challenge....but maybe Ben can provide us with further info....

My theme was fashion or outside my mountain home - we are so excited to find out that hundreds of mushrooms grow all around us which makes hiking all that more enjoyable.
 - Helvella Lacunosa also known as the fluted elfin saddle. More info on the image comment section.
Wow, thanks for all the comments - I put some personal messages on the photo in a response to yours - I am truly amazed at the feedback and think I will stick to posting photos of mushrooms :)

My theme will be "work" meaning whatever work I have either studio, freelance, sports, news. Whatever my crazy schedule throws at me. Here is week one from in the studio.

I was on holiday and have so many nice shots to choose from for this week. Some great sun set type images, some cute ones, some a bit gory. In the end I decided on this one.
Our Rhinos are in dire straits. They are being poached at more than 1 animal/day and if not stopped immediately seeing them in the wild like I had the privilege will be impossible in the very, very near future :-(.
So this image has a political/conservation message, but it is also pretty unusual. While Rhinos love to have mud baths, I have never seen them actually swim/lie in water like this chap did. The resident hippo was very, very upset with the intruder :-).

Not posted or commented anything here yet :( Hope to start this weekend! Change of plans btw. After 4 years of (weekly) food, I'm switching to "My favorite Photo-a-Day". Busy with that for (also) 4 years, so I just pick my favorite of the week. Don't worry, or do :), there will be enough food for this year. (Want to make a small book with entrees and recipes, but 1 a week is just too much)
