Wow, I don't know if there's a catch to this...I don't see it, but here's the D600 kit for less than the price of the body.

Hmmm. I just paid a lot more a few weeks ago...I wonder if Amazon would price match that!

This is insane. I just don't understand it.
Whatever, it's a brilliant deal!
I just bought exactly this, a D600 and kit lens just over a month ago, from B and H, for $600 more, and I didn't get the free monopod either. If it was less than 21 days since my purchase, my Amex card would have refunded the difference. Oh well.
Anyway, I don't feel shortchanged, I love the whole setup, and just wonder why and how Nikon are doing this.

The D600 is a brilliant camera, and the lens is also great.
If I was in the USA, and didn't have it already, I absolutely would snap up this deal, straight away.

i bought a canon 100/2.8 macro last year before December and returned it in January. the nice thing about Christmas time is amazon excellent return policy this time of year. if they dont honor a price match, send it back. if i remember right it was anything bought after mid November through early January.

Waah!

I paid more than that for the body.

I am getting ready to pull the trigger, upgrading from a D90 so hoping it will be worth the investment.

Amazon is crazy. They said I can return mine, and order another, even though that leaves them to sell an open box model. Of course, they couldn't guarantee I wouldn't be charged a restocking fee. And I'd have to return the $129 Lowepro fastpack I got, and take the cheaper one they are giving now.

Pretty stupid. I bet B&H would have just adjusted the price for me. It would be best for all involved and would earn a more loyal customer. Oh, well, in this case I ordered from Amazon.

I do have price protection with my Discovercard up to $500, and I called today and they're sending me the forms. I just worry they will find some reason not to pay me the difference.

It's definitely a step up from the D90. As long as you don't mind the heavier full frame lenses.

I've bought a new wide angle....my sigma 10-20 won't cut it with the D600, and it's bigger and heavier (I went for the 16-35 Nikon). Now I also need a new fisheye and macro. DX lenses work, at lower res, but the view through the viewfinder isn't very pretty.

I almost went crazy waiting for BH web site to open back up, not sure why they shut it down like they do but got the order placed and I am looking forward to an early Christmas if my wife will let me open it when it arrives!

PapaBob, you've done very well. You won't regret it.

B & H dont do business over Saturdays, the Jewish Sabbath, in observing their religious traditions. That's why all service is suspended each weekend, from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday.

Well, I bought exactly this deal, just 6 weeks ago, and paid $600 more than if I'd bought it today.

I've written to B&H to see their response, and asked if they would refund that amount, or give me credit on my next lens I buy from them. I hope they do......I've been a very loyal customer of theirs for many years now, and have bought a few cameras and many studio peripherals. I generally find their customer service to be excellent. If I'd have bought this from Amazon, then apparently I would get a refund, like Neil describes. I may have learned my lesson in that regard.

At the end of the day, it's a brilliant camera, and I love it so far.

I wonder if B&H would do that. I noticed that the 5D Mark II kit dropped down to $2399 shortly after I received it and never thought about asking them if they had a store policy to deal with such situations. I guess it's worth a shot to email them and see what happens.

Mine is also coming today (a day early) but I'll be sending it back to B&H right away since Best Buy replaced my un-repairable D700 with a D800 ($500 more out of my pocket).

Yeah, but I can't keep my mind made up. The D600 and lens arrived an hour ago but I've had it on sale on Craigslist separately since last night with a few nibbles. Each would be a good deal if anybody wanted them separately and if nobody took advantage of it I could simply return it to B&H.

But NOW.......I am thinking about keeping the D600 bundle (except that I would still sell the 24-85VR). Instead, I'll return the D800 to Best Buy and get a D7000 as my backup, a $1500 laptop that I have my eye on, get my $500 back, and eventually sell the 24-85VR (unopened) for $450.

Then I would have:

A great camera for extra large landscape prints.
A DX camera for my sports photography and as a backup camera.
A laptop that can handle photo processing and tethering.
My $500 back
$450 more when I sell the 24-85VR

Yeah, I think I just talked myself into it. Thanks for listening ;)

this deal is probably because of the dumb internal dust problem that is preventing me from buying this camera

I wonder if this is truly a problem or just hyped out of proportion. If it becomes a problem for me I'll let you know here.

It's just Nikon's way of telling you go for the D800.
