So, last week I suddenly stopped being able to access DPC from any pc in my home, that includes 4 desktops, 2 laptops, 1 iPad and my smartphone. The only changes were that we switched to Comcast business class internet a few days before this happened and I got a newer router. I tried all the usual dns flushing and what not. Reset my router and cable modem and tried just plugging 1 pc directly into the cable modem all with the same results. When I called Comcast the tech said that he could get to the site thru a plain test connection at his end. I contacted Langdon and he asked me to send him the results of a nslookup and tracert but I haven't heard back from him. As a side not, I did get the weekly email from DPC but it wouldn't show the images. I can remote into work and then use a Citrix based IE window to get to DPC but this is obviously not optimal.

Anyone got any ideas?

Publish your nslookup and tracert here, can see how they look compared to others.

Also try another browser, just in case.

Thanks Richard, I was actually using openDNS when this started, I switched back to the ones supplied by Comcast when troubleshooting.

It's not a DNS issue, because it's correctly resolving www.dpchallenge.com to 78.158.93.74

From that traceroute, it looks like there's a problem with one of the routers between you and the dpc server. I'm surprised you're not having problems with other sites.

You'll be able to receive email, but the images aren't displaying because they're hotlinking back to the DPC server (which you can't reach)

Not sure what to suggest really, try following up with your ISP and give them that traceroute to see if they can narrow it down.

Some IP's and/or IP's families are banned by DPC server , i.e. there are on a black list , because they were used in the past for sending spam or other problematic uses.
You are probably assigned automatically with an IP (or IP's ) in this category, by your Internet Provider.
It happened to me in the past , and I did a lot of research for this.

You have to address DPC administrators and explain the issue . Also , you can try to ask from your Internet Provider to change the range of the IP's you are assigned with and hopefully you will be able to access DPC again.

Good Luck!

hmmmm seems like Langdon would have mentioned that. I do know that at one time Comcast was blocking email from DPC but I directed him to the right people to fix that

Well, well- it might be much more that the email blocking for the black listed IP's .
Either your Internet Provider or DPC admin (or both...) should check the firewall log and the black list settings...
This could be a mutual antipathy...

The Comcast guy mumbled something about the firewall in the cable modem acting as a bridge? I work in IS but not in the networking side so I have not a clue what he meant.

Wow, where can I get a modem that filters random stuff out? You should have probably put their modem in the microwave for a few minutes, then sent it back to them. ;-)
