Day 1

Apparently I didn't take any photos Jan 1-13th and I remembered I was editing my first wedding those weeks. Man that seems like forever ago. So this was actually my first outing of the year and I didn't go far, the farm is about a 100 yards from the house that I shot this.

Day 1

My free time in 2012 was spent largely with spending time with my family or playing music. This first image is a combination of both....

This was January 5, 2012 at sunset. The image went viral around the world. The Apocalypse Cloud was a harbinger of things to come in 2012 for me, including this morning.

Sorry there won't be three every week but this week it was hard to choose.

This is one of my all time favorite photos but I edited it last year for the shallow DOF challenge, this was an outtake:

This is one I had fun experimenting with, details on how I did it in my notes:

And I just had fun doing a new edit on this one, painterly style:

I just got PSE11 so I'm going to use this SC to learn it. Apologies in advance for sloppy editing ;-)

Sloppy?, I've never seen such a beautiful pigeon in flight

That's because it's an Egret LOL! Deb ( Melethia) is the pigeon master ... er, mistress ... wait, that doesn't sound right, either ...

"King of New York"

Looking for honest critiques as I go back and edit these files...don't be afraid to say it sucks (in a constructive way)!

Thanks for all the comments on the Air Force One shot! Yeah, just a snapshot, but no one said these had to be good, did they? More of a memory thing....

To answer a few questions - no, the stairs don't go into the engine, it just looks that way - the stairs are really a good distance on the other side of the plane. Nope, can't go in the helicopter, but you CAN go in the plane and see all the fancy interior stuff, which is cool. The plane, and the helicopter, are "on loan", but I really don't think either the Air Force or the Marines are going to come get either of them any time soon. Kind of a permanent loan, I'd imagine.

For Giles_uk, here's a different perspective:

Late joiner. Add me to the list if you need to. I wasn't going to but found it was too easy to sort with Lightroom for me not to do it.

Day 1 - Jan. 6, 2012

Outtake from the Shallow Depth of Field In Red Challenge. On this particular shot, I discovered that I can use my white board not only as a reflector, but also to block light. I did not enter this shot because it was a lousy example for shallow depth of field, but on my challenge entry below, you can see the specular highlights and the bright light. The light position did not change, but this shot from the series is exposed well with better highlights due to my discovery.

Day 2 - I'm off by a day on this one, but I don't have anything else that hasn't been seen.
