I can tell this is going to be a low scoring challenge, only decided to enter today, probably shouldn't of bothered, lol!!
Anyway weren't the photo's suppose to look like they were in a newspaper, just my observation!

Imagine you had to fill a paper every day...

6.04. Huge ups and downs. At least I'm satisfied - I didn't interpret it as a free study ;)

I don't have a shot in this challenge, I gotta say, I was not inspired by many of the entries. I don't think folks tried too hard to hit the challenge description

No no, I didn't want to criticize the other entries. A lot of good stuff but a lot of shoehorns too IMHO.

I will, they're terrible.
At first I thought this would be FS city, instead most people just tried to submit anything. I guess since the advent of the internet, iPads, other tablets, and cell phones, it's somewhat understandable that most people don't even know what a newspaper is anymore, let alone what most photographs look like in them.

For those of you who say these photos DNMC or are "shoehorns"... I'd venture to say you've never seen a small towns paper, especially on a say, like a Tuesday.
heck, same goes for here... I've seen some articles in the newspaper (more times than not) that shouldn't have even made the paper. they were obviously just trying to "fill the spots".

almost all the images I saw, I could actually see in a paper.

I didn't enter the challenge... but I will def be voting! I'm actually looking forward to voting this one!!!

Ditto. Not everyone lives in a big city, and small town newspapers usually don't simply rehash all the big dramatic world incidents already well-covered by major newspapers. I remember seeing the front page of a small town newspaper, where the big front-page story was the opening of a 7-11. Not kidding!

I have never had a shot that has gone up and down as radically as my shot, we're talking wild swings of .15 to .25 at a time!~!~

LOL I knew I shouldn't of shoehorned this!

It's not a matter of big or small newspapers, but of a believable image for a newspaper, whatever it is.

The front cover image on today's copy of our daily newspaper(subscription of more than 30,000) is a black and white image of a lighthouse....

Open your minds folks....

Hmm, just been going through and see quite a few good shots, but going by the accompanying headlines, it seems that the event being reported on hasn't yet taken place.
