They've completed shut down public transportation in NJ, NYC & Philadelphia as of last night. The bridges between Philly & NJ shut down at 4PM today (so, if you're still at work Mike, you need to cross the bridge to get home before then).

And Slippy, did you steal Cory's profile picture?

i didn't go in today, kids don't have school and its hard to get a sitter when their is a hurricane, how long are they closed for.

actually according to DRPA:

The Commodore Barry, Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman and Betsy Ross bridges are are open and will remain open until further notice.

DRPA will use the following guidelines to determine whether to close the bridges: Empty trailers will be banned from the Commodore Barry Bridge if sustained winds reach 35 mph. The DRPA will declare a total ban on trucks, trailers and motorcycles (at the Commodore Barry Bridge only) if sustained winds reach 40-45 mph.

The other three bridges, motorcycle and empty-trailer traffic will be banned if sustained winds reach 40-45 mph. Sustained winds of 70 mph may result in absolute traffic bans on all DRPA bridges.

Both pedestrian walkways on the Ben Franklin Bridge will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Guess I should have checked what I heard before I posted it. ;D

My son's school is closed through at least tomorrow.

This may be an old update. About an hour ago channel 10 announced that DRPA was banning trucks and motocycles at 2:00pm followed by a ban of non-emergency or non-vital personel to follow. Of course they did not have a time for the latter.

Several rescues are under way... idiots!

Still just rain here. They're saying the snow will hit this evening, continue throughout the night into the morning.
Super cold though.
Wind gusts up to 45mph. Not too bad. BUT... it was merely 35mph winds that knocked power out here for DAYS before. Let's hope this isn't a repeat.

Ugh.

I hate the cold and rain and snow. So messy.

Can't wait for spring!!!

Seriously.......a hurricane (even a cat 1) is nothing to play around with...Especially if you are in low areas or an ISLAND!!!!

Wall Street is taking today and tomorrow off because of the storm. That hasn't happened for a storm in over a hundred years.

So far. About 4" of rain, but not much wind. This morning it said that the high winds would hit here about 9PM tonight. Last I saw, we were on the edge between hurricane force and tropical force gusts. We've been really lucky with the wind, so far, so hopefully they'll be wrong about tonight.

School was cancelled for today. Hasn't been cancelled for tomorrow (yet).

ROFL! This could cut my Halloween traffic considerably.

I think I'm going to bust open a bag..... Since the kiddies will not be out in decent nbr's I might as well dig in (I only buy stuff I like)... Thanks for the though - I hear them calling now :-)

Calling for a 6 o'clock landfall, right in line with high tide on a full moon. The storm surge especially in northeastern facing harbors is going to be amazing. I was talking to a friend in Marblehead MA who said one boat in front of her house was already swamped this morning, that hundreds of miles from the center.

That is a pretty small storm if it was taken today. The storm we are facing is about 800 miles across....

There are no little speed boats zipping around New York harbor with their tops down today.
This is what it looks like. Harbor Cam
