In some situations, no news really is good news ... my impression is that most of the "news" coming out of ISPs involves either outages or stolen customer data ...

943mb PRESSURE That will set records for much of the east coast. Hurricane Sandy is not the most powerful hurricane ever. But, Sandy is a hybrid storm.

Watching video of Asbury Park on the weather channel...seeing the water all the way up to the boardwalk...just crazy!

I saw a report that the storm surge could be 11 feet....Not HUGE but enough to do serious flooding in costal areas and low lying area...I hope all the dpc'ers up there have gone to higher ground....

LOL! I'm an hour drive from Atlantic City. And they wouldn't let me in if I tried. I actually would love to be there though.

Of course people are worried. That's why you make light of it. What else are you supposed to do about it? A small child was injured this morning in PA when a tree fell through his bedroom.

Just wait a week before you start any "where's so-and-so" threads. Some of us will not have power.

I heard an 80 foot section of the AC boardwalk was floating down a road. I think we're going to see a different shoreline after this is over.

It would seem that flooding of the subway system is inevitable, I wonder how long it's gonna be before that's back up and working.

It'll be a good test of everyone's Disaster Plans. I'm guessing public companies in the US are required to have a Disaster Plan? I've seen some wet photos.

windy and rain, nothing significant yet, im just outside philly and we are expecting 90+ mph winds tonight. luckily i have no trees in my newer neighborhood to worry about. god bless those that do, once you get as far inlands as i am, there arent swamps and marshes and beachfront, its old leaf trees, lots nearly dead inside that can fall easily, the storm we had recently had people in the pine lands without power for a month just trying to sort through all the fallen trees, that wasn't even a hurricane or tornado just a very windy storm.

Glue your shingles down. We're supposed to get gusts up to 100km/h (60mph) way up here. Huuuge storm, pretty impressive if the forecast is right.

Of course we are. This is going to create a historic mess, and people will die. That's clearly concerning.

But, an entire thread of moaning and worrying would be the worst possible response. It's perfectly natural and healthy to deal with impending disaster by making light of it - kinda knocks a bit of the stuffing out ya know?

If I died in a storm (or any other way), I'd hope people would joke about it. I know there'd be some rejoicing here at DPC. "Slippy wandered out into the tornado. He was looking for the ultimate blowjob."

This morning the tide in the NY area was about as bad as Irene was.
This evenings tide will be at one of the worst parts of the storm.
Also tomorrows hightide around 9ish in the AM will be a bad as well.
We just aren't getting a low tide the wind will not let the tide out.
We WILL be clobbered tonight.
I hope I'm wrong but it doesn't look that way.

They've completed shut down public transportation in NJ, NYC & Philadelphia as of last night. The bridges between Philly & NJ shut down at 4PM today (so, if you're still at work Mike, you need to cross the bridge to get home before then).

And Slippy, did you steal Cory's profile picture?
