I was thinking that we could have a challenge that you put in your best picture from the entire year! It would be interesting to see what people submit. If you agree disagree or have other ideas for challenges post them here.

I like that idea. Kind of like a "Best All Around" (I think I've been watching too much Olympics). It would be the one picture everyone was the most proud of -- and the winner then would REALLY have something to be proud of, huh?

I todally agree! If I won that it would be awsome. And if we all did have that challenge then I thingk it should be open for everyone, not just members, that way if you won then it would be the best picture on the entire site!

Great idea. Have the challenge open for a week at the end of the year, criteria is maybe "Photo must have been shot in 2004".

Question though .... could you enter a pic you had used in a challenge already, as that may be your best, or it have to be a new photo?

I think the later, or else it is not anonymous.

I dont think you should be able to enter a pic you have already used in a challenge, but since my people usually have outtakes this shouldnt be too much of a problem. Oh and entering past challenge photos would destroy the annonymousness on voting to some extent.

Discount any previous challenge shots, nico blue has a good point here...I have seen so much talent from users that they have shot outside of a challenge photo....let it be with a new photo that has never been in a challenge....oh, voteing should be extend more than a week....I have voted on up to 400 shot in one week..pretty mind bending and time takeing...it's like, should I vote, or shoot this challenge photo for next week....or go to work, or eat, or sleep...or just do what ever...Perhaps, with a yearly challenge and with how many shots to vote on, may determined on a week or or more to vote....I would say, 250 1 week, 500 2 weeks, 800 3 weeks, and 1000 or over 4 weeks.....sound fair, but i know, it will drive folks crazy to wait to see the results....myself included...

I like the idea, but it would certainly have to exclude previous challenge entries as using the same photo twice is against the rules.

Also, ideally, it would be a photo that has not been seen on DPC in order to preserve anonymousness of the voting.

also, since some photos that have already been seen on DPC this year, may or should not be used due to anonymousy in voteing. If this yearly challenge takes off, to be fair, with given the whole 12 months to shoot a photo...the challenge won't kick off until Jan. 1st, 2005 at 12:01 am Eastern Time and will end Dec. 31st 2005 at 11:59 pm Eastern Time. Voteing won't start util Jan. of 2006.

Would this include also, personal websites or other viewable photos off from dpcchallence.com from DPC members....after all, this is relatively a small community and many links to personal websites of photos that members have taken outside of DPC that we check out from time to time. Still could recognize a photo by the photographer. Again, the yearly challenge should start Jan. 1st, 2005 at 12:01 am Eastern Time. In all fairness.

I would hope that anyone that had a photo they wanted to enter could restrain from posting it anywhere until after the challenge (although with it being a year long that could be a strain at times).

I also agree the challenge should start in the future, and not include previously taken images, it just goes against the grain of the rest of the challenges.

I also had another idea for a challenge. It is where we all take pictures of office supplies. I figured it was simple and it is something that everyone has a few things to choose from.

Will we have a year to vote on the potential 25,422 photos?

That could be HARD to do....

IMO, not very hot on that idea, perhaps for non-members/open challenge. (shrugs)
