this thread tells the story of how VENSERDOME is getting its start.

Now, we have to keep momentum building to have a successful season.
We have two months to do it in.
Post your ideas on how to get the word out, here.

EDITED to spell VENSERDOME correctly.
;)

The first start is to make sure VENSERDOME is always all caps, and spoken in a monster truck rally voice.
Thanks sfalice for putting this forward.
If I don't respond it's because I'm going to work behind the scenes and get everything ready. I will make sure this takes off, and making sure it runs smoothly I think is the biggest priority.

Essentially the challenge is a team oriented beat your team percentage challenge relative to another team. Hopefully this gets people like myself to want to submit better photos to this site in order to improve.

You're the man Venser. I think I will start shooting for challenges again so I can be ready when this goes down.

By the way, we're all breakingthe first rule of VENSERDOME, because the first rule of VENSERDOME is you don't talk about VENSERDOME.

I'm in as long as we don't have "build your own groups" - I want the chance to work with experienced DCP'ers and noobs alike without the boundaries of existing "cliques" (and in saying that, I mean absolutely NO disrespect to the bonds that have been created by amazing photographers over hundreds of challenges - that's one of the perks of being on this site).

Also, I really liked the idea of having a scoring system that didn't penalize a whole team if a member skipped a week - like, you know, if they're getting married that week. (And by missing a week, I mean getting a one-time bye - not being allowed to slack consistently because we all lead harried, chaotic lives).

This is even better than the "Sexy Men of DPC" calendar idea thread that I've been meaning to start.....

I don't know, anyone who's willing to ruin their freedom doesn't deserve a bye week.

I'm still willing to do those photo shoots you requested.

It seems that it doesn't really matter how you form your team with this system. There can be teams where they are all best buddies, and there can be randomly placed teams.

Venser, since you're the Commish, will there be an automatic lottery system? Or will we need to self form?

Venser, can I be your VENSERDOME Secret Service? Don't mess with the VSS !

Now that we're a couple of months out, my plan is people can form teams if they want, but individuals that don't know anyone or simply don't want to make that choice, I'll throw them together. If you know a 2-3 people you'd like to be on a team with, I can make sure that happens. There's lots of time, so all the logistics should be in place. This will give me plenty of time to do the team building aspect and to try and respect what all participants want in terms of team allocation.

Do you plan to have a limit on the number of teams that can compete?

Not right now. If it starts to hit 20+ teams, which I think might be a little optimistic, I might have to think things through. In the end, it's nothing that hasn't been done before and I'm sure I can find a league/gameplay system which will work.

Have you figured out what limits you want to place on the teams?

For now, 7-8 people seems like a good number. Enough that there should be good diversity on any given team, but not so many that it become unruly.

Nothing is set yet, but that's my thought on team size. If the number of interested parties explodes, I might increase team sizes to quell logistics elsewhere.

Looks to me as if we have the nucleus of a TEAM right here in this Thread!
chazoe wants to play.
knikki, MAK, cryan, giles_uk, want to play
and Devinder says he's interested.
Venser says each team will be in the range of about 7 (or 8)-people. Here's six, ready to play.
Seems to me you could get together via the PM system and form a team, create a name, a logo and be ready to play whenever Venser says: "let's GO.!"
Let the teams form, and the trash talk begin!

One question before I bet: Are chainsaws allowed?

That sounds like "DPC: Beyond Venserdome" (and sans Tina Turner.)

I'd wager the bank on myself.
You need that kind of confidence before fights.

If you ever want to hear some good stories, I've got plenty.
