Now if amazon would have just deliver the CF card today like i paid for, that be great so i could test it out...

like a cigarette without a lighter lol. I know that has to be aggravating.

very. i called amazon and the card is lost some where in transit to UPS. i paid expedited shipping and they tell me i need to wait a few more days. im going to just go buy a small card tomorrow to get my fix.

Do you not have cf cards from your 60d

I've come out today for candle light brought everything, got camera out no card!! Found a 4gb spare in my bag (I have 64gb in normally)

4gb gives 160 shots at raw!!!

the 60D takes SD cards. I just checked amazon and the card is out for delivery, so at least i don't need to go to the store to pay top dollar for one.

i got a 16gb sandisk for $30 on amazon, the local store wants $89 for a 16gb card, lol.

I have a question about weather sealing on the 5d2, is it? I've heard yes and no to varying degrees of what the body can handle.

I've had both my 5ds in the best northern Britian can through at them, I think your equivilant would becesshington state to say its grim up here is an understatement and they've been fine. Just keep everything shut and with L glass you'll be fine. Although obviously if you can protect it with one of those cheap waterproof covers I've used a shopping bag before in a pinch hehe

Here, just watch what a 550D can deal with.

The 5D's are even more weather proof.

ETA: Around time mark 4:20 it gets really nasty.

I've had the 5D2 out in light rainfall without issues. I usually drape a towel over the camera/lens and flip it back while shooting. The "L" glass mostly has rubber 0-rings to seal, that does make a difference. Here's a slightly out-of-date list of sealed L: Glass:

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro
Canon EF 16-35mm/2.8L USM
Canon EF 16-35mm/2.8L II USM
Canon EF 17-40mm/4L USM
Canon EF 24-70mm/2.8L USM
Canon EF 24-105mm/4L IS USM
Canon EF 70-200mm/4L IS USM
Canon EF 70-200mm/2.8L IS USM
Canon EF 28-300mm/3.5-5.6L IS USM
Canon EF 50/1.2L USM
Canon EF 300mm/2.8L IS USM
Canon EF 400mm/2.8L IS USM
Canon EF 400mm/4DO IS USM
Canon EF 500mm/4L IS USM
Canon EF 600mm/4L IS USM

The other day I had the 20D out in the rain shooting macro stuff for about an hour - body, flash and lens were all pretty moist, but it seemed to deal with the soaking very well...

I've decided that I need to get braver with my gear, and take more risks, since it really does seem that DSLR's can take much more abuse than any of us tend to throw at them on a regular basis.

However, the canon 7D is the most durable

I couldn't tell what was worse -- the ice or the fire.

(that baguette must be at least 2 weeks old!!)

holy crap. this camera is insane.

the low light performance puts the 60D to shame. iso 6400 is completely usable and even when i push the noise reduction in LR almost all the way the image still stays relatively sharp!

not to mention a true 50mm is the perfect focal length indoors.

5DII and 50mm is my go to combo :) Love it. tempted to sell my 70-200 to get a 85mm but seems silly to get rid of the workhorse even though I prefer primes.

You are going to love this camera.

I think you're going to be very pleased for a while to come.

even the Tamron 28-75 shines on this thing.

im going to take out the 17-40L tomorrow morning and see what it can do.

I was concerned when buying this without ever using one that i would not like the size. Its bigger than the 60D but not really much heavier.

so far i'm very pleased.

I'm glad to hear the Tammy works well on the camera. :)

No it doesn't :-) Be a little more critical. Shoot something where the corner sharpness and CA really matter, and take a close look. I almost never used the Tammy on my 5D, and replaced it as soon as I could with the 24-105, which performs much better.

well yeah, my subjects were limited, but the IQ appears to be greater and on the 60D. I'll try it out tomorrow, but i couldn't notice any of the corner problems you speak of.

i'll try it out tomorrow after work.

In the CENTER it's great, no question about it. But shoot a newspaper taped on the wall or something, fill the frame with it, and you'll see what we're talking about. Admittedly, for some subjects it doesn't really matter. But the quality drop-off is noticeable in detailed landscape shots, for example.
