After all the fighting about challenge interpretation/wording I don't think you could have described the Hope challenge any simpler.

"Photograph something that represents hope."

But I'm sure people will find something to argue about with this challenge .. i.e. what that "something" is, probably the usual .. flowers, cats, children.

Cheers,
Mike

Hoping for sunlight.
Hoping for a kitty treat.
Hope the baby stops crying.

I hope we see a little more creativity.

Hahahaha ... it's funny because it's true. I'm sure we'll see lots of shots like that .. I wouldn't be suprised if someone actually used one of those titles.

Heh, I wanna see Jacko's submission, especially if it's titled, "Hope this dragonfly Macro pic wins the Blue ribbon!"

(No offense to Jacko, but you've gotta admit it's possible!)

Hahahah ... you guys are too funny.

So I've been thinking about wording of challenges and I think I've realized the problem (in my own slow time).

I dont think you will ever satisfy everybody unless you have challenges like
Apple
Take a well composed picture of a green apple, medium in size, un-cut, un-peeled, on a plate.

But that would be horrible and no one would be part of this community. So you have to make challenges much less specific; and if stop and think about a challenge wording outside my usual "box" I can see how people might interpret challenges in all sorts of ways.

In conclusion .. the SC has one heck of a hard job .... finding the medium between being too specific and not specific enough is not a easy task. I think they do a great job considering this.

Cheers,
Mike
