I am off to Vietnam next month visiting many temples and war memorial sites, and currently using a 40d with a Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 Di II LD Aspherical (IF) lens.
Is it worth buying a Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM to get a wider angle for all those tight and mind blowing temple shots I have seen on the net?

The reviews on this lens sound great and it does seem a great for landscapes from some of the shots I have seen on this site.

Any users' input (especially if they have also used the Tamron, and visited Vietnam) would be greatly appreciated.

i'd buy it or rent it. it can get some pretty good results...

It is indeed worth getting. In Vietnam I can imagine you will need it. I love my 10-22mm Canon.

I have the canon 10-22 ... I did a back to back comparison of the canon, tokina (I actually owned this lens and sold it to get the canon), tamron and sigma lenses and whilst they were all good the canon was a lot sharper

Thanks Skip. These pics are some of the ones that helped confirm my decision.

The added input from mike_311, docpjv and bobonacus make this a no brainer.

Thanks for the help guys!
