Well, I'm neither of those. But, I seek a fresh site that offers a dignified, business-like, civilized response to members. (Not DPC, at this time.)

I definitely was NOT referring to you Richard. Just so you know. But there were some others....

Good to know that you were not referring to me. It wasn't clear prior. I object to your pejorative comment about others.

Fair enough, object all you like, I stand by the comment regardless.

Bad kharma is the unhealthy attitude from which I wish to distance myself. Good luck and best wishes to your negativity. Who do you think you are?

Oh, and I object to your implied pejorative comments about dpc members. Fair enough.

Hi Richard, my name's Pam. Just making it clear that I am aware of my own identity. Or are you implying something else with your question?

Just to clarify, I didn't make any pejorative comments about dpc members, but you did. If you feel otherwise, please let me know the specifics.

Oh, Pam, it was you who said, "transporting sh*t stirrers crap still makes it crap..." To whom were your referring? Wow, your (Pam) attitude is the kind of mindset from which I want to distance myself.

Yes Richard, but it was you who said I seek a fresh site that offers a dignified, business-like, civilized response to members. (Not DPC, at this time.) This indicates that you think dpc members aren't dignified, business-like or civilised. I believe the statement you made to be perjorative.

pe·jo·ra·tive
Adjective: Expressing contempt or disapproval.

You then asked me 'who I think I am' - I thought my response to that was pretty clear.

For the record, I really like DPC. I may not be 'old school' or have been around here since Noah was a boy, I may not always like the comments or scores I receive but you can bet your sweet life that my photography has improved no end while participating here and I recommend or refer nearly everyone I see with a camera to this site. Yes, there might be things that can change / I would like to see changed, but for pity's sake, I don't slam dpc every chance I get (again, NOT directed at you Richard), or actively attempt to get people to leave by recommending a different site THAT HAS A BUNCH OF THE SAME PEOPLE AT IT ANYWAY.

I refuse to name names, actually, because that would entail behaviour that would get me sanctioned - and I don't want to be kicked off dpc - I like it too much. :)

So you would imply there are "some" who make your private landscape less appealing? Do you own a plantation?

Of course there is (and yeah, kinda, I do actually, well, some land with lots of trees anyway). And that's part of what makes this place so great!

Further comment from me will have to be deferred until this 'soccermom' makes and serves dinner. I'll catch up later. :)

Yes the activity level is down, what should we do about it? I suggest we go out and take some meaniful photographs, meaningful as in meaningful for us as individuals, not for anybody else. Maybe if we do that we'll be satisfied and we'll stop bitching about everything and as a consequence the site will have a happier more inviting atmosphere. The truth of the matter is, if we seek praise from others we can never be truly satisfied, briefly elated yes but the opposite is also true and that's what all the grief here has been about lately, behind all the excuses for arguing, its all about lack of praise and recognition. In the context of a challenge let us just shoot from the heart with no thought of praise, the results will be fantastic on every level I'm sure, of course we should also vote in the same way.

Wise words indeed. ETA. The whole post makes good sense, but I like this part.

How I miss Bradp, graphicfunk, Les... Yes old school from the time of Noah, but I like it better then. Does not stop me liking it though. Just not able to hang in there as much as I did. Where the 'old' crowd better? Definitely not, but they were different, I think.

1. Time to clean up, I suggest. Sort out who is active and who not. (Define active as a group.)Cut the bullshit numbers of xxxxxxxxxxx members. Cut the bull, let's concentrate on Members of the Community!

2. Then have a re-look at our council; (e.g. where is Bearmusic, one of the most knowledgeable and loyal people?) Sure our counsel is doing great, but are they the best/most acceptable? I admire the in-depth knowledge of some of those who replies and participates.

3. Our challenges may be outdated and stale? Shouldn't we re-consider the format/topics etc? What are the successful sites (Yes, there are some out there that are not as big and 'numerous' as us)doing differently? Where else is this community playing and why, what do those guys offer?

4. Strong opinion: Our site needs upgrading in cosmetics at least. Are we as appealing and nice as to 'invite' newcomers in? To keep regulars and 'old folk' in and interested?

No critique, please, I love the site and the people/community with all my heart, you are the guys who gave me life. What I know I learned here. That does not make me brain dead though. I am also concerned about the levels of activity and/or lack thereof.

(Not read fo' grammattical miss takes, speling or anyfing that May 2012 be contrivershal. No re-sponsibilitee exeptit.)

I'm just stoked that I now know the definition of the word "pejoritive".

What if we take meaningful photographs, which are meaningful to ourselves as individuals, and these images are then panned by the current block of DPC voters? I don't need a kick in the teeth every morning. And, I'm not going to change my beloved style of photography to be more "DPC-friendly". So, for my mental health, I think it's rational and an act of "progress" to leave here. I've been here for 6 years and have entered nearly 600 challenges. I absolutely know that not everyone will like my photography. But, I think there are better places for me somewhere else, right now.

I want to add, these personal skirmishes have to stop.

Arguing over this sort of thing makes the site childish and i know i am guilty of some childlessness myself.

Debate the principles and intricacies about this site. That's fair game, this site, in its present condition deserves much criticism, from layout to features to leadership however the users and interaction of this site are what make this place great for many people. We cant lose that.

Everyone is one edge for some reason or another lately and little snarky comments just stoke a fire. I realize we are all frustrated lately about something but we dont need to call each other out.

I think we all need to back off a bit and when we see someone make such a comment, myself included, we need to just ignore it, report it or send PM to the person and try to resolve it there. Nothing good will come from starting such an argument in the public forum.
