The new one's a MUCH better lens... Well, "better" anyway, LOL. Heck, I like it, that's what matters...

can I have some opinions here... PLEASE :)
I am shooting main indoor volleyball. I wasted $30,000 in the last 20 years on Digital Cam and gadgets. I've decided to get a little serious when I am shooting at my daughter volleyball games.
I have a 5 D MK2 with 24-105 L f4 and 70-200 2.8 Non IS. Most of the clubs are within reach of 70-200. This weekend, we were at a bigger tournament and the club is a little bigger - I bought a T4i with this in mind
Since the T4i is very cheap now..I can use it as a back up. and also because of my gadget nature - I want to find more about the T4i. I am telling myself it is cheaper to get the T4i and increase my glass rather than buying something with more zoom than 70-200 which I have no idea.
To my surprise - the T4i is quite fast for sport. As far as quality concern - I cant really tell yet. Because I was being lazy and tested everything on Sport Mode...So the IQ could be USER error.
here is the question
1. Would the MK3 is better for Volleyball? I do notice the t4i is fater but volleyball at this level - it is not too fast so I think the MK2 still can handle it and also the T4i will be another option
2. 50 mm 1.4 25-105 f4 and 70-200 2.8 - I already own - I want ot know what additional glasses I would want to have
A. What would I need for Volley ball
B.. What would I need for wedding

the sigma 120-300 is a cracking lens

Would the MkIII be better for volleyball. Oh, yes, certainly. For one thing, the AF system is in the class of the 1-series cameras. For another, the low-light capability of the camera is superb. Meaning you can crank the ISO another stop or two so you can get your shutter speed up or use a stop smaller aperture effectively. Ideally you still want f/2.8 or faster glass, because that will give you the fastest AF performance; in many situations, however, you may be able to get away with f/4. In which case, your 70-200/2.8 with a 1.4x converter would be a feasible combination.

Thank you.
I will unload the mk2 and getting mk3
Meanwhike I will use the mk2 and t4i to increase the length.
What is a good lens for wedding.

No question that the 5D III would be far superior for volleyball. Superior AF and high ISO all the way baby! You will also want to stick to fast lenses, 2.8 and faster. I got the 85mm 1.8 a little while back for this purpose (gymnastics). I will get to try it out next week.

I love the AF on my 7D, but I really wish I had the high ISO capabilities of the 5D III. That will probably be my next upgrade...eventually.

If cost is no object, the Canon 24-70 f/2.8 II is the best-performing zoom range of all time in that range, regardless of brand. I have the old version and love it, the new version is a significant improvement, speaking only from reviews and numbers.
