Any suggestions as to where to have it made? Would like to keep the cost down and the quality up. :)

Shutterfly.

eta: I'm sure that link didn't work. Here's a share site with the last book I did there. //kellistates.shutterfly.com/

Sometimes there are Groupons for photo books. My niece did one with Groupon, but I think it was a Canadian company. The book is gorgeous. It's a huge book too, she could make a really big one that would normally cost $200 or more for around $50 with Groupon.

Oh, she said when she got it the pics were too dark so she told them about it and they said keep the book and we will send you another one. The 2nd one was perfect and she gave the 1st one away, it was still nice even if the pics were a little dark. I didn't see the 1st one but I saw the 2nd one. Like I said, gorgeous. It was from her trip to Qatar and I actually thought it was a souvenir book she bought over there.

I do all my vacation photo books through BLURB
I have been very satisfied with the quality. I like them because you can download their book software to build your book on your system. When you are ready to order then you upload your book. I have been a member since 2008. I would share a link to one of my books but I have made them all private at the moment.
I have used Shutterfly but not for books. Just calendars and cards. I found their quality good too.
I have also used PICABOO. I liked their books too I just don't use them anymore because at the time I could only get the 8x10 books and I like the bigger books that I can get from BLURB. But PICABOO has come along way since then and their quality is alright. They also could have improved their quality since the last time I used them. Well that is my 2 cents. Enjoy creating your book. Your mom will love it. I know my family loves receiving my books. So much so they keep asking when they will get the next one.

This is the Wedding Book I did at Adorama a couple of years ago. I believe my cost was $20... they were very pleased with it. It is a hardcover 8 x 8.5 inch book with lustre pages, though Adorama offers many options.

I've used MixBook and MyPublisher with absolute satisfaction. I prefer MyPublisher as it is more flexible and has more paper type options.

I've done quite a few books through viovio.com and have been happy with their service and the results.

Have you checked out Finerworks.com? They are pretty reasonable and easy to build. I recently received the suede one in black and I'm really happy with it. I actually used it as more of a portfolio for my artwork though :)

one thing to be aware of with mypublisher is their shipping policy...they use FedEx Smartpost, which is absolutely terrible if you want to get something in a reasonable amount of time. if time doesn't matter, then you'll probably be ok.

for example, recently i ordered a pocket book for my mom. two days after placing the order, i get a "your order has shipped" notification. two weeks later, she still hasn't received it. the normal mail time is only three days. FedEx Ground is only two days. FedEx Smartpost just plain sucks. the thing is, you only have two options: regular (which is smartpost) or expedited (which is expensive).

i'll give you that the quality is more than worth the price, especially for simple family things. it's just the shipping that i have an issue with.

So in other words FedEx "Smartpost" is a misnomer? :P

To the largest degree! I won't buy from anyone using that service after they lost my son's birthday gift last year and refused to replace it claiming it was delivered. Even the postwoman knew it wasn't. I was bucked up the line so far, then it was blown off.
