I might go and watch stage 18, it goes through the town of Cahors which is about an hour from here, hopefully I'll find the time, really enjoyed seeing it last year.

Ha! Yes, got up this morning and watched live. Mom is visiting or I would have been riding instead. Talk about a hill! I wouldn't drive my car up that last bit (it's a stick and I'm afraid of having to stop partway up...) Love watching the grupetto come in.

I've been recording le Tour on NBC Sports (formerly Versus), so I can fast forward through all the commercials. A three hour recording is only about two hours fifteen minutes if you take out all the ads.

Yesterday's stage was pretty interesting, and Peter Sagan's sprint win was amazing. What a talent! I was really disappointed to see Frank Schleck & Ryder Hesjedal lose so much time in the crash, and now see that Ryder has withdrawn from the race. I thought that those guys would make it interesting in the mountains, giving Evans and Wiggins a run for their money. It's starting to look like a two man show, but who knows, maybe someone like Tejay Van Garteren or Levi Leipheimer will step up.

This year's tour has been really exciting so far, hasn't it?! I bought the streaming package from NBC online, and while the interface is buggy and sometimes I can't seem to get a stage to play when I want, overall, I'm glad to be able to see so much great coverage of this year's TDF. Many times, these races seem kind of dull because one rider or team is so dominant that the event seems like more of a formality than a race. Often during the first week, there is little movement at the top of the leader board as everyone conserves energy and waits for the high mountains. This year has been different. The battle for the different jerseys is close and so is the GC battle. It seems like everything is up for grabs, and the result, is a very exciting race. Plus there have been some great individual performances among riders who are not in contention for a podium spot.

Ha! No kidding! He's a form of entertainment all by himself. Fun to watch. See the "fun read" below.

And seriously.... if you've been a professional bike racer all your life, spent thousands of hours on a bike, wouldn't you know NOT to stick your fingers into a moving wheel? Seriously?? Apparently he's still in the race, and is putting off surgery until after the tour. Nuts. Completely nuts.

For a fun read:

I thought the same thing about the fingers in the wheel!!! I actually said out loud "you would think he would know better!"
thanks for the article...this has been a good tour...I figured Wiggins would take this one.. He's a rock star. Everytime I see him he reminds me of a skinny Lemy from Motörhead!
Good to see an American up there too with Teejay...,

Wiggins is just lucky Sky picked him to represent or that teammate of his might have stolen the show!

And yes, very pleased to see Teejay doing so well.

And I really, really, really wanna believe that Frank is NOT stupid enough to dope... sigh.

Ha! No spoilers, but I will say that for a stage I thought would be kinda dull, it most certainly was fun at the end!

I agree that Froome may have won had he been Sky's team leader but Wiggins has him beat on every time trial. Wiggins will no doubt repay Froome for his efforts and superb loyalty in future tours.
Froome in another team wouldn't make sense as demonstrated by Cadel Evans in the years leading up to his win as his domestiques just werent good enough.
Froome could have done what TJ done to Evans and left him when he was in trouble for his own cause, I would like to have been a fly on the wall after that stage.

I would have liked to have seen a stronger challenge from another team for the GC as it has been a predictable tour. For the last week my only concern has been Wiggins crashing which kind of sums up that the other teams aren't strong enough.

Got to agree with you about yesterday's dull stage, nothing like throwing a gauntlet down, absolutely jaw dropping.

Team Sky is just so strong all around.....so...will Cavendish take the win on the champs elysees tomorrow????

Voeckler reminds me of a younger Robin Williams with his smile etc!!

Who knows how Froome's body would have responded if he persisted when he first rode away from Wiggins on that climb last week, now that would have been exciting! Ha!

I think Wiggins had the classic Armstrong mind game going, and nobody had a realistic chance to win; they were all racing for second from day 1. It was rather boring without Contador and Andy Schleck to animate the high mountain stages. In general, Evans and Wiggins are rather dull race leaders. Way too professional! I miss the arrogant control and attacking style of Armstrong, Ulrich, Pantani, Virenque, Heras, Vino, Basso, et al., you know, the glory days of clean cycling! ;) Ironic that the one rider in the race who is often willing to attack on steep climbs withdrew for presumed doping.

I very much enjoyed watching TeJay, Nibali, Sagan, Cavendish, and the funky Frenchman who, as always, entertained us with impressive efforts and funny faces! Can you imagine if Hushovd was around to compete with Sagan for points in the hilly/modest mountain stages?

Next year should be great presuming Deb's boy crush and Contador return to face off against Nibali, Froome, and TeJay. Wiggins will be more exciting to watch since he will need to defend his TT ability against 5 great climbers, same goes for Evans.

I've seen Robin William in spandex. Long long ago, when the Ride for the Roses started in Austin, the average rider could afford it, and some friends and I participated. Lance was riding with a small cadre, including Robin Williams, and they rode the opposite direction so everyone got a chance to see them. Quite fun!

Pantanni was awesome...shame what happened to him though...
Virenque "there's no crying in cycling!!".
Although definitely not a climber..I used to love the antics of Cipollini...So arrogant...he was a lot of fun!

Who was the rider that punched the spectator when he got in his way???

My boy crush broke his arse, silly man...

But I gotta say, I am a huge Tommy Voeckler fan. He's just too fun.

But Ben is right. Wiggins is dull. Evans is dull. Good cyclists, yes, but not very exciting.

I say we go back to the days they carried their tires, smoked cigarettes, stopped for wine.... :-)

Nice clip, Robert! Lance dancing the pedals... He did that so well, yes?

Missed Didi Senft (the Devil) this year - apparently he'd had surgery of some kind and was not able to make the tour this year. Hopefully he'll be back next year.

And you know I spend too much time following the tour when I noticed the other day the chalked tacks on the road at a summit - the fans had drawn giant tacks in chalk... Heh!

That was great Robert! Thanks!! I remember watching that live..those were the tours where I would be out of my seat yelling at the TV!
I remember lance said that he let Pantani win that stage afterwards..caused all kinds of controversy...
