The problem is, some people get all kerfuffled when you combine #1, 2, and 3. Instead, we need to embrace it.

I find it amusing when you give a comment that could be very helpful if listened to and people do not mark it helpful but will mark a comment giving nothing but praise, I was just reviewing a comment made that had made a very specific observation and the photog had received a few other comments that mirrored that particular comment and none were marked helpful but seemed to find all positive comments helpful.... Maybe the sour lemon has some merit.

If you want lemon comments and post the icon with the pix, then you should have the "grain of salt" ready. View the comments for what they are, learn something useful, and get over it without whining or griping.

+1

If you're a big enough person to post the icon, be a big enough person to accept the comments.

I like this Sour Lemons idea.

2. Some people don't want any criticism of their photo, be it constructive or nasty (which I honestly see no point in posting)
3. All photos are subjective and given 100 views of one, you'll have 100 different ideas about it
4. In honor of Rodney King, can't we all just get along?

I agree with your 4 points.

In fact, this is the very reason that I had this idea.

1. Some people are rude and you really can't control how people respond or react. SO, we use the Sour Lemon as an indicator that rudeness *is allowed* on a specific picture.

This will open the door to both rude and constructive comments. But because the person opened the door with the Sour Lemon picture, they will ignore rudeness and focus on making lemonade. It won't stop people from being rude, but might start a scenario of tolerance. In real life, we have to deal with rude people all the time.

2. Some people don't want any criticism. So there is no need for them to use the Sour Lemon and life carries on as normal. But at least we can understand that and put our attention on those that do.

3. given 100 views of one picture, you will have 100 different ideas about it.... this is specifically why most people put their pictures into a public display place. I WANT different viewpoints than my own. I know what I think. Different viewpoints can often help me to see more and change the way I think. This is a good thing.

4. Can't we all just get along? Yes, but that doesn't mean that we treat everyone the same.

If everyone is different and we treat them all the same, the result will always be different and scattered.
If everyone is different and we treat them all differently - and appropriately to the situation, we have a better chance of all getting along.

I'm at work right now, so I can't take this further just yet, but in a couple of days, I will take this to phase 2.

Correct. I like pie: apple, key lime, cherry, chocolate, pecan just not lemon
