I'm safely rocking along at 5.5, and it seems to be pretty stable over the last 24 hours.

Looks like I'll come in the bottom half. Although with a fave from John and Elikatz, some other comments alluding to the fact that I am actually 'jrmitz' the score does befuddle me!!

I'm not a member klkitchens. How do you know what people score on your photo???? Is this a member privilege? Are your math skills that good? If so, then I don't even want to become a member. Except that I love this site too much and I will become one anyway. Seriously I believe knowing how people score would just give you falseness among voters. If you think a photo is good in your mind then you should feel free to give it a 9 or 10. The same rule should apply for the opposite. I'm just trying to learn. For example, If one thought that shooting flowers for a Spring challenge is a lame idea, can they vote it a one? Or should they think that - well it's technically shot well, so I'd better give it at least a 6? Super confused with an obviously lame - no brain Idea, as opposed to a well shot photo. I don't mean to stir up any emotions from people -- just trying to learn and improve my photography and to get better at voting on other people's shots.

Voting here is a complex and personal issue. Some feel flowers would be overdone or unoriginal for spring as you suggested and vote low. Others would gauge only the quality of the image.

As for knowing the actual votes, there are two tools. I have a spreadsheet (see my signature) and Niallotuama has written an application to update and deduce scored. You cannot tell which Member scored what but you can tell which value you got (based on how frequent you check).

As a member you can have the site update you score as often as you like. As a non member it will update at 10 past each hour.

If you think flowers are lame, give it what you see fit, even a one. People will tell you otherwise, but your vote is how you perceive the entries in the challenge, including lack of originality.

We all have our reasons and methods for voting, just stick to what you think is fair, ignore everyone else, and have fun with it.

The main thing on voting is be consistent. If you are a harsher critic like CS then always be harsh and be harsh fairly accross the board. If you're like me and have an average vote given in the 6's then stay consistent in that. In other words don't let your mood or other factors alter how you vote some shots in a challenge compared to others. Say you vote on half of the inages in a challenge one night, then you come home from a particularly bad day of work and start voting on the other half, if you notice you're being harsher on the shots than you were the day before take the night off and try again.

Consistency is so important.

Thank you Cosmicassassin, Chazoe, and Klkitchens . I'm just trying to find my way and be myself. I have often not voted because I don't feel right about slamming pets, flowers, water drops, sunsets, etc. just because i feel that too many people are doing them. So I've stayed out of voting until I have a better attitude. I voted on this last challenge (jmritz), but I found myself being harsh on all the pets. I went back later and upped their scores because I didn't feel right about what I had done. Then I hated myself for changing my mind! I feel that I need to reflect a bit before I start voting again. NEED HELP- I Think there is something wrong with my attitude so it's best that I stay out of voting until I understand it better

If I was you I'd continue to vote. Not sure how much time you have but I like to go back for a second look after I've voted on all images. I usually wait a day or two and start with the shots I scored highest working my way down. The second time through really doesn't take much time. This is when I add comments and bump images up that I scored to low.

Someone just nailed me with a 3 but it was offset by someone else faveing it. Take that low ball voter.

You have rated 124 of 124 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 77 images (62%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.3871.

What a greatly enjoyed challenge. There were quite a few 6s that would have been 7s in other challenges. I also skimped on gallery and ribbons, only awarding 11 photos total. I think I may have even excluded the man himself!

(edited because I realized I commented on more than just 7s)
