Something I found a few days ago, I believe it hasn't been posted here.

The New York City Municipal Archives just released a database of over 870,000 photos from its collection of more than 2.2 million images of New York throughout the 20th century. Their subjects include daily life, construction, crime, city business, aerial photographs, and more.

Fascinating images, and some excellent photography as well. It's easy to see why large format was the "thing" back in the day.

oh wow.... I just was paging through very quickly and just as quickly realized that this deserves a much more thorough look. The crime scene photos and the horse drawn street sweeper, the bridge photos, and the sheep in central park make it so that I have to peruse these more carefully tomorrow.

Thanks for the link!!

I was planning on posting this the other day when I saw it.

Some truly unreal stuff.

ETA: I'm sure someone is going to do it but I want to retake most of these photos and do a side by side "Then and Now"

That is a great idea, I wish I was closer to try the same.
My favorite is #24 but I'm not sure you can repeat this today :)

A few "urban explorers" I know tried to climb the Brooklyn bridge not too long ago. Let's just say they had a long night.
