i absolutely love the idea i came up with. for someone who isn't generally creative, this challenge has really kicked me into gear.

i am so thrilled that my shot came out nearly exactly as i envisioned it.

my creative juices have been flowing and i also now have a great idea lined up for the motion panning. hopefully the little boy likes it and im sure his mother will get a smile from it.

I've had a real creativity block on this one. I'll try my best to come up with SOMETHING tonight.

Only 59 at present but hope lots of entries tonight.

Had to devote a few zillion hours to learning how to do some fairly straightforward tricks, but the entry's in...thank gawd!!! Hope it makes him smile.

I submitted mine last night, however I may make some revisions tonight when I get home from work... Either way, its my first challenge in months and I'm really happy with what I came up with, I think he will enjoy it... As for the voters, who knows and who cares :P

My thinking behind sending the individual photos was that they
... could be signed
... could function as a get-well card/message
... would be cheap
... would not rely on everyone's participation/permission (can start immediately)
... could be put in his own preferred order by Dallas (perhaps in a scrapbook)
... would arrive over a period of time -- 50 little presents instead of one big one

Those are some valid reasons to do them individually. My biggest concern was people actually following through on printing/sending. But yeah, I agree, getting more 'random' pieces of mail could brighten up a different day.
I'm game for either or both whatever the community decides. A few dollars is a small price to help brighten up the day of a young kid going through what he is. :)

GeneralE makes some good points.

At least we're up to 62 entries now. I'm guessing there'll be a last-minute spate of entries flooding in during the evening, as people continue to tweak their images til they're happy with them.

Paul, great idea, I think Dalla would love to have a hard copy of all the images. Loose, so he can do what he wants with them.

From time to time. :)

I usually set up my prints formatted as 8x10 -- 4x5 is the same aspect ratio. To make a 4x6 print I'd set it up something like this
and sign it over on the bottom-right.

argh!!! Mine is going miserably!!!!

I'll enter it anyway, but it's really looking awful at the moment. I keep hoping I can save it, but I think I'm making it worse... :(

Basic editing, but I am in.

a coworker just gave me a great idea on how to improve my photo, but requires reshooting.
spent over 2.5 hours in PP last night (all my free time once my son went to bed).
Will have to try tonight to see how new setup works and pick which one is better later tonight...

I am all for GeneralE's idea... I am at the post office 3 times a week, so I can guarantee he will get an image from me. I'm going to send a care package of some sort anyway...

You don't have to do fancy editing. Once I had my "props" assembled, I took a shot I could have entered mine under Minimal rules, though I did use the Expert rules to tweak it just a bit -- I'll post the original for comparison later in the outtakes thread ...

+1 Though in this case I used a lot of fancy (for me) editing, I had to for this entry to work. Usually I don't stray much past Basic or Advanced. So the PS experts can rest easy...for now...muwahahahahaaaa...;-)

I am in the same boat

I'm in!

It definitely has problems, but after a couple of hours, I just cropped off the biggest problems. :)

I'm in... if Dallas smiles briefly, I win the blue. All your stinkin' votes mean nothing. :)

i was in last night, then out today, now back in... learning to use a lot of new plugins & effects, too.

up to 81, pretty impressive for an expert challenge.

One more for Dallas. fortunately, we don't HAVE to use Expert!

Anyhow, it's for Dallas.
